Excellent resource for the hardest part of parenting a teen
Self compassion is hard to come by for teenagers, especially those with ADHD. Dr Bertin’s thoughtful, readable book gives parents of teens with ADHD or teenagers struggling with social challenges the important information they need to help guide emerging adults. Peer groups and connection are top of list for teens, so the mindful practices laid out in this book can help them quiet their inner critics so they can practice key social skills, manage big emotions and read the complex nuanced social interactions they are trying to navigate. Of particular note is the explicit and deftly described section on mindfulness and the carefully curated social media diet. -Caroline Maguire, M.ed., award winning author of Why Will No One Play With Me?

Terrific book for teens with ADHD!
In their terrific new book about mindfulness, self-compassion and ADHD, authors Mark Bertin and Karen Bluth, achieve something very rare: offering tools and insights for teens themselves. Most teens with ADHD need assistance in accepting the brain they have but often reject assistance from adults. This wonderful book gives them the resources they need to understand their brains, learn how to live more effectively and be kinder to themselves in the process. With helpful, easy-to-use exercises and quotes from teens themselves, each chapter guides the adolescent reader through accessible techniques that build key life skills and foster self-esteem. I really love this book and plan to share it with my clients!
