Perfect roast ribeye
Wasn't aware when I purchased but this helpfully tells you the oven temp as well as the meat temperature. Tried a slow roast reverse sear for the ribeye roast for Christmas (search for J Kenzi Lopez Alt's reverse sear recipe) and it was by far the best roast beef I've ever had, impossible without a leave-in thermometer. Really easy to just set it to alarm at "beef, rare" and then take it out and watch it come up to medium rare when resting. SCIENCE!

Better options out there
Not very robust. I'd used mine perhaps 5 times before it started switching off unexpectedly, or showing up 'connect probe' when partway through cooking. After around 10 uses it permamently shows temps in the minus figres - a steak that is medium rare shows up on the thermometer as -19 degrees C. Supposedly frozen solid! This isn't very well built - save your cash, buy right and buy once.

Great thermometer
Brilliant thermometer, I use it mainly for making jam and it seems very accurate.

Absolutely pants, broke with the first use
Was planning to use this for the Christmas roast, popped it into the joint and all looked fine. Saw it had magnets on the back so went to magnet it to the oven, as soon as I did, the back half tore off as the magnets were so strong. The buttons flew off all over the kitchen and the wiring broke. It’s an expensive slater product, but looks as though it was made for about 3 pence. Absolutely useless. Returned.

Broke on 3rd use
Unfortunately the quality isn't great on this. I only used it a few times, it seems the connector socket goes a bit funny and doesn't read properly, often it says "connect probe" even with it connected, and then if it does finally realise it's connected, the temperatures are all over from -18C to 3C to 20C.

Very weak probe cable
After about 2 months of (very) careful use the thermometer stopped giving accurate readings. I've diagnosed this as a broken probe cable as it would work intermittently when I jiggled the stainless steel cable.I've now been waiting 6 months for Salter to get replacement probes in stock but no luck yet.I've had thermometers with similar stainless steel clad cables before without a problem but this one seems far to easy to break (the metal strands actually broke).I can't really recommend this product and I'm very disappointing in Salter for the poor build quality and poor customer service.

Poor product
This is the second one I have had after the first failed. This one doesn’t reset to zero and records incorrect temperatures. This is not what I would expect from what I believed to be a quality manufacturer.I most definitely would not recommend people waste money on this product

Not so sure
I don't trust this. Had it set to cook a whole chicken, it said it was at temperature, yet it was absolutely pink inside.Doesn't seem too accurate.
