There isn't a word for this. More than humour, more than laughter
Beyond stars. "Amusing" wisdom. Subliminal. The only negative is it came to an end too quickly. Transforming. If you don't find yourself laughing, worry

Douglas Adams The Salmon of Doubt A Good Read
an interesting read, of short articles written by the great man - for the most part. Sets his work in the context of his life, funny, irreverent, and sometimes joyous. It helps if you are familiar with his work, including Last Chance to See

Catching up on Douglas Adams
Retired - & catching up on all the authors I've been intending to read for decades. Ploughed through Hitchhikers Guide 'trilogy' of five books so Salom of Doubt had to be next. Adams is a 'marmite' choice & I happen to enjoy his cynicism, wit & intellect - personal opinion 5 stars.

CD-R format.
Just a warning. Douglas Adams' The Salmon Of Doubt as published by W. F. Howes LTD, comes on duplicated CD-Rs, as is common practice in the audiobook industry. The discs read as blank on my laptop and Brennan MP3 recorder, and cannot be copied to any portable devices or backed up in case of the discs degrading, which being CD-Rs they eventually will.

excellent Douglas Adams
After reading a vast majority of Douglas Adams own work I came across this.It is an excellent amalgamation of his own work and others including interviews and more. It gives the chance to find out more about the man himself before his unfortunate passing.

The more I return to this book, the more I miss Douglas Adams..
The more I return to this book, the more I miss Douglas Adams, and the works and wit and words he would’ve produced over the last two decades...I’d love to have read his takes on the technological and societal changes in the last 2 decades....the world is still the poorer for his passing.

What a mind, what a loss!
It has lots of things from the meaning of Liff. However, the eleven chapters are really good. This is a very poignant book as it would appear that this may well have been Douglas' best Dirk Gently. Sadly he died before completion. What we are left with are snatches of brilliance and as usual very funny commentary on human foibles.

One last time.
Douglas Noel Adams (D.N.A) probably stands as the successor to P. G. Wodehouse as the creator of a complete world with a delightfully tenuous connection to reality, a unique comic narrative voice, and an appreciation of the artifice of fiction that makes Nabokov look like a stodgy duffer. This book collects fugitive pieces, interviews, and the remnants of his final, incomplete novel, The Salmon of Doubt. All the pieces are wonderful, and the Salmon of Doubt has a certain poignance.Adams, a world-class procrastinator (worse even than Duke Ellington), worked for years to produce roughly 70-80 pages of a Dirk Gently novel. Before his early death in a gym during his regular workout at age 49 (an irony he might have appreciated), he wasn't sure that the novel was right for Dirk Gently and entertained the idea of revising it as a sixth Hitchiker's book, adding several more years that he didn't have to the project. The fragment, however, is wonderful in its own right and includes a Siamese cat that is half-missing (reminds me a bit of Schrödinger's cat, there and not-there simultaneously), and a mysterious client whom Dirk has never met, seen, or consulted with, and whose existence is revealed only by Dirk's bank balance. There are other absurdities, all presumably connected, but we'll never know how. Nevertheless, Adams masterfully plants the sense that the wildly disparate events are indeed connected. The novel ends, necessarily, abruptly, in the middle of confusion, and I felt as if yanked back from an abyss, as well as disappointed at never knowing how the plot would have resolved (or not), and sad that Adams died way too early, not only for his friends and family, but for me and perhaps you.

Essential Insight into the Master
This book is as inspirational as it is delightfully humorous. It made me feel like a weight was being lifted from my shoulders as the world and universe is seen as something beautifully crazy.
