Braun Series 9-9095Cc Shaver with Cleaning Centre for Men

I don't usually write reviews, but I got a lot of help from the reviews before this purchase.One thing I noticed is that some found it expensive, when you factor in the replacement cutting head and foil, and the cleaning cartridges. I found myself wondering what type of facial hair those reviewers have...Context: I have thick, coarse, fast-growing facial hair that grows in odd directions on my neck. I can grow a full beard in about a week- too bad wifey doesn't like beards. I've tried every kind of shave their is... multiple blades, hot shave, straight razor, other electrics. 12 years ago, I ended up with an earlier version of this razor that served me very well.For me, this Braun Series 9 is the best daily shave, and worth the cost. It gives a good, consistent, clean-cut shave, without any razor burn. Others have noted that your skin might need a few weeks to get used to it, but I find it far more comfortable than any blade.It seems to have more power than the old version - definitely a larger cutting head. I've also found that this new update cuts long hairs better, without having to use the trimmer. The shape of it is more comfortable in my hand, and I find I have to make fewer passes than the old one - that may be partly because the cutter head was getting old.The charging/cleaning base is fantastic. I don't have to brush out the thing. The cleaning seems to reduce the amount of cleanup around the sink each day.I don't travel a ton, but with my last razor, I never had to use the power cord, even on multi-week trips.There isn't really anything I dislike, but here are a few things to keep in mind:You may want to rinse it with water after the alcohol bath, or splash water on your face after you shave - sometimes I find I can "taste" the cleaning solution on my lips after shaving.As others have pointed out, factor in changing the cutting head/ foil every year or so. I think the mfg recommends 18 months, I usually try to do it once a year. If you find the shave quality going down - more passes are needed, or it's irritating your skin, it's time to change the cutters. The cleaning cartridges also add cost.Don't expect as close a shave as a straight-razor or safety razor. It does a good job, but it's not going to compare to say, a Lebanese barber. Your whiskers will come back a little sooner than with a safety razor, but not much.Conclusion:If you can skip shaving for a few days, and people think you have a little smudge of dirt on your cheeks...If people question your committment during Movember...If you've never felt the zing of a really bad razor burn...It's probably overkill, and you might resent the cost.If you have tough, hard to tame whiskers...If your 5 o'clock shadow can finish carpentry...If you've never needed a fake ID...this tool is a worthwhile investment.

Excellent shave, normally used to buy Phillip’s brand but husband (a reluctant shaver) was very happy with this model.

I just received my new Braun 9095-cc shaver and it is everything I expected. I have had Braun 360 Complete and Series 3, 5, and 7 (two models), and have a heavy beard; but Braun has always done the job that the others I purchased could not do. The 9095 shaver came in only three days after I ordered (with "standard" shipping from one of Amazon's providers). The shipment was well packaged and came by USPS Priority Mail. When I compare this to my Series 7, 797-cc-7 it is far superior. I find that the sound is about 20% less, and my shave time is reduced by over one minute. The cleaning system is unique and much improved; there is a " active drying" (fan?) operation runs for about 40 minutes after the 3 minute cleaning cycle is completed. The "charge level" is shown by horizontal bars and the "9" shown on the display is for the final 9 minutes of shaving time remaining before a recharge must be done. The cleaning station's refill cartridge loads from the rear side and snaps into place when installed properly. The foil/cutter cartridge is 90S (Silver) or 90B (Black) and is available from Amazon for $65.90 which is about $20 more than I pay for my current model' foil/cutter, but the technology and design is completely different and much better. If you are looking for the BEST shaver and want all the features that would be expected for a shaver of this price, I can highly recommend this one. This is only my second order with Amazon, and I can say that I pleasantly surprised on how very well they conduct their business. I don't order things on-line, but I did try Amazon when I wanted a new watch, and this shaver and I was very apprehensive to try this experience---but I can attest that Amazon is an excellent place to shop because of their very helpful people in Customer Service, and their great efficiency. I have no connections with Amazon, and am just an "average" customer who expects a good price, and great service-----AMADON RATES AN "A+" RATING in my opinion and I am looking forward to a long-term relationship with them. I have had this shaver for over one year and it has been working great and is an excellent choice. AS OF NOVEMBER 2016, THERE IS A CURRENT PROBLEM: There are no replacement heads available, and Amazons statement says they are "not in stock and don't know when they will be available". If I cannot get one soon, I will have to rethink my long association with Braun, and switch to another brand (probably less expensive) who have readily available replacement parts. This is in no way an Amazon problem (they are great to work with), but a Braun issue. I would advise a potential purchaser to make sure the replacement head that fits ALL 9000 series shavers (90S-silver, 90B-black) is available.

I know some folks have had trouble with this versus the older models, but I think it's probably very specific to your facial hair type. For me, this works better than any of their prior shavers, and this is my fourth Braun. In fact, this is the only electric razor I've ever used that works well even if you have a few days' growth. The center two cutters do a great job of getting long hairs down to the length that the outer foil cutters can handle.For those new to the series, the main cutting on Braun shavers is done with a thin foil guarding very sharp cutters. They will give you a much closer shave than the old Norelco disc-type shavers and require less repeated attempts to cut everything. In fact, I sometimes shave with a double-edge blade and the Braun electrics gets as close as a blade shaved with the grain. (Nothing gets as close as a blade shaved against the grain, but shaving with a blade against the grain is a bad idea, anyway.)The cleaner actually works great, and really makes using an electric razor a much better experience than it used to be. Yes, it's a way for them to get a continuous stream of money out of you, but it's not terribly expensive relative to blade replacements. And it really is nice to have a fresh, clean and lubricated razor every single morning.The microcontrolled motor really works as they say; the razor maintains constant cutting speed even as you plow through a heavy beard.The battery life is great; I've never gotten this thing below four bars, even after taking it on a trip and shaving for over a week without a recharge. They definitely put in a much bigger battery than they needed to, but that will mean the shaver will not lose performance with age.It's not cheap, and the replacement heads will run you a pretty penny (about $50) but this is a great razor that performs well and keeps itself clean and ready to use automatically. Given that this is something you have to do every morning, that's worth spending a bit on, I think. Every morning I'm glad I did.
