Purchased October '23 will no longer pull water in April 2025. I give it 3 stars because it did work until now and was cheaper than most alternatives. My Hayward pumps have always lasted much longer. (In fact, I have never had to replace a pump on a Hayward unit - the motors usually to out. I understand the Hayward is double the price but I would expect this pump to last longer than 18 months used on a timer8 hours a day.UPDATE:I read another review where the person found their impeller clogged when experiencing similar issues. I took time to open the pump and inspect the impeller. After 18 months in the humid Florida weather, the quality stainless steel hardware was still like new. After separating the case, the impeller housing was held to the pump housing with two stainless steel Phillips screws - also still like new. After removing the impeller housing and exposing the impeller I quickly saw that the impeller was completely clogged with leaves and debris. Disassembling, cleaning and reassembling the pump only took 15 minutes and now it works like new again. Apologies to Doheney's for the less than 5-star review - this pump is well constructed and easy to service. I would like to know if new pump housing/impellers are available for service if needed in the future though.

The pump was exactly as described, it is a strong running pump and it is working well now that it is installed. The pump is a different size and layout from the Hayward pump that it was replacing, but that said I kept the initial layout from the Hayward pump just in case I need to go back in the future. I have been a pool owner since 1973 and we have only used Hayward pumps, this is my first voyage into another brand. The reviews were decent and the price was GREAT so I took a leap. I love the running sound of the pump, the self priming. Overall so far, 3 days in everything is wonderful. If this pump lasts it will have been a great investment. As a suggestion, the possibility of offering a conversion kit to existing pump owners would be a major benefit, might save a purchaser the need to go to the local pool store or hardware store and purchase additional items. Two types of connection kits - a 2” kit and an 1 1/2” kit would be a tremendous benefit to the installer. To the Doheny family, I say thank you and I am looking forward to being a Doheny customer for life.

Replaced my hayward pump with this one. Honestly I was skeptical at first because it says self priming but it took a few attempts to prime. I had received a lid that was sucking in air but the hayward was a direct replacement so the lids were interchangeable. It's definitely a lot quieter than my hayward and it's working as it should. I've had it running straight for about 6 hours now with no issues. The flow is also very good and I can see the water being sucked into the skimmers. Water pressure is also good, but that's more the filter side of things. I am using cartridge filters that I replace every Summer as a note. The only thing I did get lucky with is that I installed a reducer on my hayward pump so that it fit the PVC pipe and it also fit into this pump perfectly. It's a 2" and does NOT come with that reducer to bring it down. In my case I reduced it from a 2" to a 1.5" but it does have the threading to install with no issues. I attached a picture for reference. I only gave it a 4 star because the lid but thats an easy cheap fix.

Easy install, had to do a little repipe. This pump was a little bigger than old pump. Works fine.

We installed this pump and it overheated twice. Once it cooled down, we restarted it. It ran for about 8 minutes, while it was running it smelled like dust in a heater the first time it's run in winter. Then it stopped working. Had an electrician come out and double check everything on my end of the wiring. It was working fine. Called Doheny's and they sent me another. Installed it and it fired right up. Worked great but started to smell again. After about 8 minutes it shut off and won't restart. The pump is for a 40 year old pool that has had a few pumps over it's lifetime. I installed all of them and never have had issues. The pump I am replacing is a pentair pump that bearings are going bad. As soon as I can get another pentair, I will be installing one and returning the second dead Doheny pump

Replaced a 2HP pump with this 1.5HP pump, lower noise than previous pump but also noticeably lower water output. Not to the point that it is unusable, but you will notice a difference in water volume. Pool has a water slide and jets along the side of the pool, jets die down some when the slide valve is fully open. All pool piping is 2" and slide is 1.5" pipe. Will update review after some use of the pump.

Pump was delivered as promised on time. Very quiet operation.
