Ancient and modern mysteries in Pompeii and A Significant Development for Emily and Colin
In the 14th in this series, Emily and Colin and their friends are exploring Pompeii when they stumble upon a body – and not an ancient one. Soon Emily is investigating a murder, but she also has family drama to deal with. This is a good mystery with an interesting set up and what felt like a definite Amelia Peabody reference. If you have read the previous books in the series this has what I would term A Significant Development for the family which looks set to provide some interest in the books to come, if you haven't read the previous books, maybe start with them as they're cheaper and you'll miss out on running plot strands if you don't!

In the shadow of Vesuvius
This is a highly enjoyable and detailed mystery at the turn of the twentieth century, set in Pompeii. An English house party has to investigate a murder.I had not read any earlier books in the series, but as the group is away from home the cast is limited and not too much of their backstory is relevant.I like that we get to see the life of a slave girl in the city before the volcano erupted.I was sent an e-ARC by Fresh Fiction. This is an unbiased review.

Tedios
The Dual story line was tedious. Lady Emily books are much better when there is a concentration on her investigations. It seemed very similar to a couple of previos storylines. Not up to the standard of some of the previos books in the series.

Another fabulous Lady Emily adventure!
I’m a major Tasha Alexander fan. This book brings Lady Emily, Colin, Ivy, and company to Pompeii. The adventure begins immediately, the characters are exciting, and leave the reader guessing until the end. I admit that I went back and forth between my suspects until the last pages, but I’d never ruin it for anyone else. I love Tasha Alexander’s descriptions of the ruins, of each painting and the architecture. It’s one of her many virtues as an author: intense research!!I’ve also gained new vocabulary words, as always.Just read it. Especially during our current pandemic situation. Read a lot, share your favorites with others. I will always recommend Lady Emily to everyone. Enjoy!

More, please!
I have always enjoyed the Lady Emily books and felt the same about this one. Quite often they begin slowly but build to an exciting conclusion, however the double storyline featuring the same setting captured me immediately. As usual, Alexander's research was impeccable. Her support team deserves congratulations as well.

Another fantastic addition to a wonderful series!
I’ve loved the Lady Emily mysteries ever since I first found And Only to Deceive among the paperbacks while shopping with my mom and this is another fantastic read! Love the descriptions of Pompeii which truly make you feel as if you’re walking the ruins with Emily, Colin and Ivy. Several surprises are in store as we see some familiar faces in the series and meet new friends.

Split storyline
I’ve enjoyed the series up until the last one. I don’t like the split storyline. It’s distracting and interrupts the continuity of the story. It looks like the next book in the series does the same, so I’ll stop with this one.
