Wildlife Photographer of the Year: Portfolio 31

Purchased for my Grandson after seeing the exhibition at Greenham Common. Great photography, especially from the younger contributors .Good value price on Amazon and quick delivery.

Trying to get all the series. A few gloomy ones in this but some inspirational ones as usual.

This was bought for my granddaughter for her 10th birthday on recommendation by her photographer mother.She loved it!(Actually, they both loved it)!

Another year, another book. This is the annual collection of the best photography of the last year, as chosen by the judges of the competition under the auspices of Natural History Museum.As usual, it's split into categories such as Behaviour, portraits, underwater etc. These tend to be wonderful portraits of animals in their habitat. The photos will normally take up a page, with a couple of lines of text on the opposite page, or will take up most of the page, with text included on the page. I do have my usual complaint that occasionally the photo is split across two pages, which I never like, but they do tend to be photos where that can be done, and all that is missing is some background. I have noticed an increase in photos which have been taken by drone. There's an amazing snow leopard portrait I don't think would be possible without a drone.As is usual, towards the back of the book, is the photo-journalism awards, given out for the best story, and as usual it's given over to photos of animal cruelty. It's not the worse ones I've seen published in the series, and there are some more uplifting photos included, so I do wonder if the judges have decided being dark all the time is maybe not the way to go.As always, the final portraits are given to the young photographers. I think the art form is in good hands
