Rick Steves Veloce Guide Bag,Spruce,One Size

I purchased this bag to serve as a "purse" while traveling, and used it two weeks and four cities in Italy. It is small enough that it was allowed in all the museums we went into. Light and comfortable, I wore it across the shoulder/chest for security, and could keep it under my arm or in front as needed. The strap is padded and you can adjust both the length of the strap and where the pad sits, which is very nice. The strap does not come off, so it can't be unsnapped and stole by a pickpocket. Pockets - lots of them! There is an outer zipper pocket handy for things you need fast (bus pass, etc). Unsnap the flap, and there is a pocket (velcro) for phone or sunglasses. There are two small mesh pockets as well (I never used them), on with velcro and one with a zipper. Then there is a zippered pocket under the flap that I thought most secure, so I carried cash and kept my receipts there. That pocket was easy for me, but not pick pockets, to get to, since you have to open the flap, then unzip another pocket. There is a large main compartment as well. My ipad mini fit great in the main compartment, but a full size ipad might not. A small pocket style camera would fit also. The main is big enough to hold all the essentials for a day outing (tissues, aspirin, sunglasses, receipts, small notebook). The outer back pocket (has a snap - no zipper) worked great for a tour book, map, and phrase book (yes they ALL fit!). This bag holds a lot more than you would expect, and is well thought out in design. It also fit nicely into larger brief case style bag to meet carry on limits. It also fit nicely on my lap (safe and secure) in restaurants. This style left my hands free, yet I felt everything was secure. The color isn't as bright on mine as the picture shows, which I actually preferred.

Purchased this product for a trip to Europe and Africa. It was the perfect size to hold phone, passport, money, small camera, maps, tickets, etc. It is small enough that it does not need to be checked at museums. etc. I liked the multiple compartments which offer various levels of security for different items. I felt that my money and passport were very secure in the inside zippered compartment which has the outer flap secured over the zipper. Adjustable strap allows you to carry it across your body for increased security or shorten it to hold under your arm. The only problem that occurred was when it rained all day and my phone got damp (not wet, but damp). Due to this problem, phone had to be replaced. In the future I will bring along a plastic bag to protect new phone on very raining days. Despite this problem, I would recommend this bag to fellow travelers.

Nice size and space but not as comfortable as expected. It is capable of holding a lot and for that alone I give it 3 stars.

After 15 years of marriage my wife has suddenly stopped helping me carry my junk around and as a result I've had to find a bag that I can carry things in. This bag has proven to be a perfect "man bag" for me. It is just big enough to carry my everyday stuff, plus a few extras. It is also big enough to overstuff when you have extra things to haul around. The best part is that it is fairly incognito and I don't get too many stares as a man walking around with a shoulder bag. The average haul for me is a cell phone, wallet, lighter, car keys, dagger, small pistol, pen, notepad, multi-tool and change. I simply love this bag and recommend it to all. I give it four stars because only perfection should get five.

I expected it to be small but this was tiny. Also it has no structure so if you don't weight it down it just flops around. I replaced it with a larger messenger bag.

Bag was perfectly sized for items on needed for my day trip to NYC. Easily held a light jacket, point and shoot camera and my iPad mini along with charging cords and extra batteries. Plan on using bag for next overseas trip. Would also be good for storing passports and tickets along with it's intended use of maps and guidebooks. A well thought out travel bag at an inexpensive price that is very well made.

I bought this bag as an afterthought for a trip to South Ameria. It ended up being the bag I carried everyday. It held everything easily; I especially like the front zippered pocket for easy access to my passport and boarding passes.

I haven't bought a bad Rick Steves item yet. Love the size of this one. It fits my Samsung 8" tablet and a small book. I use it daily, but its great on vacation. Small pocket for ticket stubs. The only pocket that I could have changed is the tall skinny one which would fit glasses if you had a pair of sunglasses with you.
