Only tinder I bother to pack
I've done all the tricks, they all work but have drawbacks. This is simple, high surface area, and lights quickly with appropriate heat. Note: for cooler spark of actual flint with steel you'll still want charcloth to catch that spark. Would likely be difficult, as usual, but probably would ignite given the patience. Plenty in the bag to practice but you can always get a larger pack they add no weight and can take as many as you wish

good product
Use them a lot and they work great

A good general purpose tinder.
This tinder is my "go to" tinder. It is a small, waxed-cotton type that is dependable. This tinder lasts about 2 minutes, at most, once it is lit. While I use another, similar, longer-lasting, brand for extended outings this is my main pack-in tinder for bush craft and camping.

Takes a spark from a ferro rod easily
Slick little flame extenders. They take a spark from a ferro rod well so long as you pull the fibers apart and make a little nest before attempting to light it. It's the sort of thing that could make the difference between having a fire and not when conditions are not ideal. I keep a few in my backpack and in my emergency 10-essentials dayhike kit.
