SHARP! Sharp price on Amazon for a great whetstone.
Fantastic! Firstly thanks to Amazon for excellent purchase experience and excellent price. In fact the best price I could find anywhere online after searching for many days. 5 Stars to Amazon and 4 stars to the DMT factory for a good product. The good bits:*perfectly flat*large (huge in fact)*heavy and stable*Excellent for maintaining a sharp edge on tools*Excellent (or the best) for preliminary Cooks kitchen Knives honing*For smooth grading of very expensive natural Japanese Karasu, Nakayama etc whetstones*Perfect to be used just before taking the tool to the finishing hones on 0.3 Micron paper or Japanese Natural Shoubu, hard Nakayama like Karasu etc.I like the size and weight of the stone. It is WONDERFUL. It is good choice for grading the more expensive natural Japanese waterstones because it leaves a smooth ready to use polishing surface. For more severe correction perhaps a coarser grit is useful but I personally find it is not necessary for a well maintained surface. Please remember to wash after every use, otherwise the iron filings rust and leave ugly spots. I recommend just water and not soap. Soap makes it slippery and while working with sharp tools you want good grip and control and safety. Do not apply pressure. Use it lightly, almost like a caress; as if stroking a pet!!Bad bits:*The quality is very good but long bedding in period and some 'spots' which can be felt on surface) so only 4 stars!*NO OTHER FAULTS!I highly recommend this DMT whetstone in the Fine and Extra Fine. It is a fantastic honing tool. However, if you are planning to buy it expecting extremely fine (mirror like) surface finish then you are in for a shock. It wont do that. As it does not compare to HARDER natural whetstones from Shoubu, Nakayama mountains etc. DMT is a less effective cheaper alternative to the previous two for a razor finish. Thanks for reading.

DiaSharp continuous stones - Fine
I have used a DMT DiaSharp fine grit 6" continuous stone for 5 yrs or more. I recently bought two more, an 11" xtra-fine from Amazon and an xtra-xtra fine from somewhere else. A long time ago I bought the kind with the holes in it, the non-continuous surface. Not even close. Not nearly as good. You definitely want the continuous surface. Much more money, and definitely worth it.And all I had to work with up to this point is the DMT fine grit 6" stone. After years and years of use it still works very well.I was totally amped about receiving the larger and finer stones. Well, I am sending them both back for replacements. I read reviews here about DMT continuous stones having bumpy and irregular surfaces, and I couldn't believe it. I do now. I guess it's the classic - DMT is trying to maximize profit by eithera) selling off "seconds" to unknowing customers, orb) manufacturing with cheap labor or a less controlled process. Both of the stones I recently purchased are nowhere near the quality of the stone I bought about 8 years ago. The old fine stone is smaller (6") but has a perfectly uniform grit. When you pass a blade over it there is no detectable roughness or bumpiness, other than the constant friction of the grit. The new stones feel like someone misted hot solder on them. (Exaggerrated, yes.) There are bumps and irregularities everywhere. Hopefully when I send it back they will realize I know what I'm talking about and send me a "first quality" version. If I am wrong about there being an "A LIST" version of the product, then that really sucks, because these are of no use to me. If the next stone is the same poor quality, I will try one more option - going to the smaller 6" size like the old one I have.

DMT sharpening plates...
These are great sharpening plates. One reviewer said they were ragged, I didn’t find them to be anything but the best sharpening plates that I’ve ever used. Not ragged at all. And yes, use a light hand on these if you want to keep your cutlery around for your lifetime. I purchased FINE, COARSE, & EXTRA FINE plates for my sharpening needs. At first I’m like what was I thinking buying this coarse plate, the fine and extra fine are all I need, then spring of 2019 comes and I’m out in my shed and see my hatchet sitting there. That old hatchet wouldn’t cut candle wax, it was in such poor condition. Went and got my new DMT coarse plate, and in 5 minutes I’ve got the sharpest hatchet I’ve ever owned in my hands.Five Stars, or two thumbs up...however you rate the best you’ve used or owned that’s what I rate these DMT plates.

Good Sharpener for Big Jobs
I bought this large sharpener mostly because of the large knives and meat cleavers I have to sharpen. I bought a VERY impressive Dexter-Russell 9" inch meat cleaver and this long sharpener makes sharpening that monster a not so difficult task. I would have given it 5 stars but since it does not have any kind of "case" is a slight drawback for me. I set it on my plywood topped work bench when I use it (since it is basicly a block of steel) and i'm not too worried about it scuffing up that surface like I would have some concern if I were to be using it on the kitchen counter top. I bought the course model an i bought the fine model. It's a good idea to have both. I also have the DMT sharpeners with the perforations exposing plastic to help with catching the steel from sharpening you blades, but I wanted more surface contact with my blades, so i found these. After using the small "WorkSharp" compact sharpener which has this kind of continuouse diamond surface, (both course and fine) I was happily surprised to discover these sharpeners.

Nicht zu empfehlen
Kauft man versch.

Tut was siesoll.

Great
Not sure why this stone was given such a low rating, it's excellent. Diamond stones have to be used properly and that means not applying a lot of pressure to the surface. I absolutely prefer this stone over all of my other DMT plates. it is awesome.

Warning! Not "ready to use out of the box"
It is not ready to use straight out of the next. Needs to be broken in, for example lapped with a natural stone for few minutes. Then it is perfect. I will be getting other grits too
