What is LEGO Dimensions? When a mysterious and powerful vortex suddenly appears in various LEGO worlds, different characters from DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings and The LEGO Movie are swept away. To save their friends, Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle bravely jump into the vortex and quickly find themselves fighting to save all of LEGO humanity. Let creativity be the guide to a building and gaming adventure - journey through unexpected worlds and team-up with unlikely allies on the quest to defeat the evil Lord Vortech. Play with different minifigures from different worlds together in one LEGO videogame, and use each other's vehicles and gadgets in a way never before possible. LEGO Bad Cop driving the DeLorean Time Machine…why not?! The LEGO Ninjago Masters of Spinjitsu fighting alongside Wonder Woman...yes, please! Get ready to break the rules, because the only rule with LEGO Dimensions is that there are no rules. Build the minifigure heroes and fire-up the game to start the experience, then follow the in-game build instructions to assemble the loose bricks into the LEGO Gateway, and place the structure on the LEGO Toy Pad. Expand the adventure by collecting more minifigures, vehicles, gadgets, and new levels with the purchase of three different types of expansion packs. Use whatever minifigure with whichever vehicle or gadget - go ahead… break the rules! Level Pack: Want more to explore? Expand the gaming experience with a level pack which contains a whole new mission-based game level, along with a minifigure, a vehicle and a gadget to build and use in-game.

Fantastic for retro gamers, younger kids not so much
I'm a 30-something gamer who remembers the likes of Gauntlet, Paperboy and Rampage, so this level pack was right up my street.Whereas previous Lego Dimensions level packs played like more conventional Lego levels, this one is mostly set in a large abandoned building and there isn't really a lot to do, except for solving a few puzzles to build power sockets for arcade games. You then drop the arcade machine gadget into the power socket and it lets you play one of 23 arcade games. It's worth bearing in mind that of the 23 games, three of them need you to own other level packs. The rest can all be unlocked either in the Midway level pack or by finding power sockets in the main Lego Dimensions story mode. There's one fantastic hidden area at the end of the level, which you can unlock by upgrading the Spy Hunter car (which comes with it) into a plane and flying into a landing dock on the rooftop. Don't want to spoil too much but Paperboy fans will be happy. This level pack is also the only way to unlock the Midway Arcade adventure world, which is a brilliant free-roaming city with areas based on the playable arcade games. In short, this level pack is designed for older gamers because the main selling point is the ability to play perfect renditions of 23 classic arcade games. If you're buying it for a young kid who maybe won't appreciate 8-bit and 16-bit gaming so much, it might be best to give it a miss. Personally though, I love it.The full list of games is:Badlands (Atari Games)Blasteroids (Atari Games)Championship Sprint (Atari Games)Cyberball 2072 (Atari Games) - Needs the Simpsons Level Pack to unlockDefender (Midway)Defender II (Midway)Gauntlet (Atari Games)Gauntlet II (Atari Games)Joust (Williams)Joust 2 (Williams) - Needs the Portal 2 level pack to unlockKlax (Atari Games)Marble Madness (Atari Games)Paperboy (Atari Games)Rampage (Midway)RoadBlasters (Atari Games)Robotron 2084 (Williams)720° (Atari Games) - Needs the Back To The Future level pack to unlockSpy Hunter (Midway)Super Sprint (Atari Games)Timber (Midway)Toobin’ (Atari Games)Vindicators (Atari Games)Xybots (Atari Games)

Retro charm and more
Almost 5 stars from nostalgia alone. I am old enough to remember when Gauntlet was on the arcade machines, as the machine became more powerful I was stoked to own it on my home system on disk (Spectrum + 3), so for me opening a level where I can play all the games like Gauntlet and Defender is awesome. I think so far my son has managed to find 5 of at least 8 different Midway classic/retro games. That to me is worth the price of the pack alone. The Lego part of the pack is ok you get one of the coolest car models of all the sets, as this is one of the few case that has all 4 wheels, the models of the Batmobile and the Echo 1 are only the from of the car not all four wheels. it has land, sea, and air modes. the arcade machine is an arcade machine. In game the gamer kid is a bit like Captain N for those who remember that, he can call on different abilities for a limited time. Super speed, Super Strength, heat beam, invisibility (stealth), and invincibility. The car upgrades to land, sea, and air modes. the arcade machine I cannot see being useful till you get to the third upgrade that is a pixelator (a double gun turret). So in the Pack you get a character they many abilities, an extra level with lots of secrets of classic/retro games to playand cool lego to play with. this to me is Win, Win, Win. Well worth the money for me.

Recommend only for unique ability
Out of all of the expansion packs I've played so far in Lego Dimensions, this has been my least favourite. As a late-20 year old I didn't really have any nostalgia for the retro games and often found the games difficult with confusing controls (both for the games themselves and also the game menus). The one upside is that the minigames often provide you with a large amount of studs for playing, but you soon get to a point in the Dimensions game where it becomes redundant. It very much became the case of playing the minimum that was required before I could quit and return to the main Lego game.I recommend this pack purely because it has a unique ability that is needed to complete some aspects of the game. However, as one of the more expensive packs which I got little enjoyment out of, it's a very reluctant recommendation.

My least favourite of all the Lego dimensions levels/expansion packs
My least favourite of all the Lego dimensions levels/expansion packs. Obviously it is a required purchase to complete the game but I didn't particularly enjoy playing this and part of the reason was the 1980's arcade games. While I am a huge fan of Gauntlet from the first time around and enjoyed playing that again the rest were somewhat clunky and not very enjoyable. One for the fan of nostalgia perhaps but not for me...

An excellent extra level. With the added bonus of throwing in 20 classic arcade games as well.
An amazing level pack for the Dimensions game. With the added bonus, of having 20 classic arcade games to play as well. Games such as Defender, Gauntlet, Road Blasters and Paperboy are a retro blast. And show just how hard games were back in the 80's lol
