Simon & Schuster Paula Deen's the Deen Family Cookbook

I love her cook books. She uses butter and cream and that's what I like in recipes. Food with flavour and this book has a lot of those recipes.

This is a really fun read that includes recipes from many of Ms. Deen's extended family. I've made several of the recipes and EVERY ONE has been a hit with my family. The recipes are beautifully illustrated and easy to follow. The recipes are easy to modify if you need to watch calories/fat without sacrificing flavor. My family loves food with depth of flavor and spicy kick and this one fits the bill. I would add that the publishers who cancelled her latest cookbook are fools. To cancel distribution of an obvious bestseller appears to be calculated to hurt her financially to appease the PC crowd. I hope she sues the butter out of them.

I am enjoying this book a lot so far. You can tell the Deens are a close knit family that love what they do and food is something they are passionate about and wanted to share. I made the mac and cheese recipe for my husband for dinner and he ate it up! It looked and smelled so good once it came out the oven. Eggs and spices seem to really bring all the flavor together. I can tell we will enjoy these recipes.

I didn't care for this cook book at all. Too much story, not enough recipes.Some recipes were too simple. Some were too old style. Some I would justnever want to make. I LOVE cook books and I gave mineaway.
