Versatile and Complete Audio Interface Easy Setup
Tascam home run! This audio interface provides so much functionality and ease of use. Two inputs for mics or instruments, with independent volume adjustments, easy-to-read controls, LED VU meters, separate level controls for line out and mic, easy to use control software that is easily customizable, plus add-in effects. USB-C connectivity and versatile peripheral connection is a key plus.

Compact and reasonable price.
Compact and easy to operate. Software offers two mode for detailed recording. Satisfied with the sound quality and noise level when connected AKG C1000. Very good and reasonable price.

Great unit at a nice price, but no shielding against RF
I've always had good luck with Tascam products. Typically high quality, good performance, and reasonably priced compared to others. This is no exception and offers a clean design with lots of good features, and now at a great price. And while the 42B has been our for number of years, I only just discovered it! Audio quality is fantastic (dependent of course on what you're feeding into its mic inputs). Headphone monitor, line out controls, FX functions (which I'll likely never use, all in a compact package. The VU meter is a nice addition (lackign in may USB audio interfaces). BUT...while it looks great, the case is made entirely of plastic and lacks any shielding against RF or EMI. That said, if you cell phone is closer than a few feet, the US42B will likley pick it up and add it to the mix. No good., so keep (espcially) RF transmitters like your cell phone AWAY when using the US42B. My Tascamm US-2X2 doesn't sufer from this problem as it's all metal and thus fully shielded. The 42 as a nice LED VU meter lacking in most USB interfaces, so kudos there to Tascam. Besides the sheilding, th eonly thing I have a problem with is changign the sampel rate fro the default 44.1kHz. That option is grayed out in the control panel, and while I've ready how folks have managed to change it, I've not been successful, yet.

Ministudio Creator: Great value for what you get!
Purchased for doing live audio play-by-play streaming for an aspiring teen and this has been very good so far! Pros: - Dual XLR mic inputs for two people. Running two Audio-Technica BPHS1 headsets. Mic levels are good, I'd say running them at about 80% input level. - USB interface for the mixer output, works great with Win11. - Quick audio buttons can be pre-programmed and work well. - Can be powered via computer USB - Compact size - portable. Haven't had any "cons" or negatives per-se. A few items to note while using: - Single headphone monitor/output. Simple to use a Y-splitter when using two headsets. - Single combined audio source coming across USB - not a multi-track output. - On button turns on/off the entire feed from the Tascam - which is okay, just something to note. "Mute" of individual mics would have to be done via their level controls.

undervalued audio interface, good enough for <$200 machines alternative
great product! + Low Noise similar to $100-200 interfaces + Portable and can be used with computer + double XLR, +48V, Inst input with enough gain power ( I set it to 3 o'clock with large enough volume) + Line out, never used over 12 o'clock for small speaker + Phone volume good enough, never used over 1 o'clock for my Sony MDR-7506 headphone other functions are all good. you can connect up to 2 headphone, one each 3.5mm 6.5mm. you can also use 3.5mm headphone. - sound input is weak, you need a pre-amp for music input from mobile phone they are not powerful enough for the interface to pick up enough music input. - maybe not a negative, if you want to change EQ, Compression, or Reverb settings, connecting to a computer is a must. - 3 sound pads are non functional if in portable use. Tips: careful when connecting to the computer with its software up, remember to double check the output stereo/mono setting, it turns the loopback setting on/off, you will get mono music easy. I ended up figured this out after playing this machine 2 months. 5 stars machine if you get used to it. powerful enough comparing to any $100-200 machines. USB is type B and support iOS with OTG cables. so you can use OTG cable for live streaming, tiktok, YouTube, instagram. easy! suggest buying a 20 bucks music pre-amp for music input in between your phone and the interface. portable, light weight, stable. great for outdoor use too. I got it for about $50 plus tax 2025

Great unit
I have an amateur startup podcast. Was looking for better quality sound than I got out of a beginner’s podcast equipment bundle, so I bought a couple Maono mics, and this mixer. It’s been a huge help, compact size, easy to use, and my sound quality has improved 100 fold.

Poor quality legacy device that breaks after a few hours and generally unsupported. AVOID
Using this turned out to be a massive waste of time and a fountainhead of frustration. Avoid this. You'll just be wasting money. I guess they still sell this thing because they have remaining stock. It was never well supported to begin with and the maker has stopped trying to improve it. I bought this as a cheap audio interface to use with a DAW. The specs sounded good. I liked that it also was a entry level podcast device. I thought if my little boy ever expressed interest in creating a podcast, this would be a fun introduction. The device IS advertised as a viable audio interface for DAWs and the manual describes how to use it for that. At some point they created an improved driver with 6 seperate channels just for this purpose. It worked as described for the first tracks I recorded. Then I noticed that playback on one channel was showing up on a Mic input channel - even with the Mic gain all the way down. The signal transfer was internal - not via the Mic. Then I noticed that after connecting 2 mics, the original input I was using, Mic 1, stopped working entirely! I tested everything, including the Mic of course, but that channel was now dead as a doornail. Furthermore, even if I connected a mic to this now dead input, I would still get the channel crosstalk in the DAW when using the good input channel. Only after disconnecting the mic from the dead input did the crosstalk issue go away. Well, as you can imagine, I spent some hours trying to use this thing and trying to figure why my DAW was behaving so weirdly as I did so. I don't know if this is of any use as a podcast device. Although I've not tried it for that, my experience using with a DAW leaves me in doubt. I can most assuredly say you do NOT want to use this with a DAW. Also, as a general recommendation, I'd probably add that one shouldn't buy an audience interface for DAW used when nobody else is. (Do an Internet search.) I did and I lived to regret it.

Ok
Works great, especially for someone who doesn't know what they are doing.
