Simple, Wonderful Rack
Excellent little rack was just what we needed. Drove about 700 miles with 2 fully loaded coolers - about 75 to 100 lbs total. Absolutely no issues. Rack extends far enough out that it was easy to access the back of the vehicle for loading/unloading. But it does not extend out too far - so parking in parking lots was not an issue either. It was solid and stable. Not many racks exist for 1.25" trailer hitches. Glad we purchased this one. There are comments from other reviewers that this was difficult to put together and/or that the instructions needed to be modified. I followed the instructions "as is" and it went together just fine, and it didn't take long.

A sturdy enough fuel friendly alternative to roof cargo solutions.
This cargo carrier is a great buy. I bought it to carry a gas can, cooler, and miscellaneous tools or other luggage in a Rubbermaid tote on roadtrips. It has held on great so far, but it does have a few cons I'll cover soon. The rack did, as for many people, arrive slightly damaged. The Curt box it arrived in had a hole in the back about 2" in diameter. The metal mesh on one half of the rack, packaged on the bottom, was bent a bit. It is completely usable, but a disappointment. The rack was fairly straight forward to assemble. It did take a bit of flipping back and forth and holding parts carefully to get all the bolts started, but it is completely do-able for anyone with a 17mm wrench. It does require a 19mm for the odd, yet simply workable hitch pin. Once the basket was together, following advice from other Amazon reviews with all bolts turned with the shaft out and some added reflective stickers for extra visibility, I put it on my car (2015 Honda Fit EX) and it went on easily. The hitch pin, a long bolt you have to tighten to 'wedge' it so it can't rattle, works fine and gives no side to side flop or shake. I also grabbed a $10 hitch tightener to help strengthen things a bit, but I'm not sure it was necessary. It also uses 19mm hardware so I just keep it and use it since I have it. The cargo carrier basket is pretty sturdy and definitely stout enough for what I carry. My hitch is only rated for 200 lbs. tongue weight, which I've not come close to, but I'm not sure I'd go much further than that even if it could. I don't think the carrier could hold the 300 lbs. that it claims, but it definitely holds up as well as I hoped a sub-$100 1-3/4" cargo carrier could. The angled 'shank' does help my height challenged car clear the driveway, and does angle the basket slightly towards the car, but only a couple of degrees at most. If I could offer one suggestion to Curt, it'd be to add some reflective sticker and maybe to package it with some thick cardboard to help protect the mesh floor of the basket. Otherwise, all seems great, and I definitely have no qualms recommending anyone who needs to buy this.Update:It's been a week, it's been about 1,500 miles, and it's been A-OK! Still holding up well, no rattling or annoying flopping. I've only hauled about 50lbs total, if that, at a time on it for those miles, but the rack is still sturdy, and continues to be a good buy.

Sturdy, well made
Used it a few times and it’s been great. Fairly easy to put together. I have a class II hitch but it came with a class III adapter included as a nice free bonus item I’ll use for my other vehicles. This adds just enough space to get a couple of bins or golf bags out of the interior. Best car accessory purchase of the summer so far. For the price point I don’t mind that it doesn’t fold and it isn’t heavy so taking it on and off between uses is a breeze.

Nice Choice for 1.25 Inch Receiver/Lower Price
I have a 1.25 inch receiver on my Nissan LEAF, so options were somewhat limited. This was a good choice. Easy to assemble, reasonably solid, and easy to attach/detach. Used it on a 90 minute drive out and then back, with a fairly heavy cooler and two hard side suitcases attached. Worked exactly as expected, and we were able to get four adults and all their stuff for a 3 night houseboat trip loaded into a LEAF. That's saying something. You will want to be sure to keep the load even side to side. When I started reloading for our trip home, I put the cooler on first at an extreme end, and it listed a few inches to starboard. Re-centering the load solved the issue. I think we had around 100 lbs on the rack, and it performed just fine. Would definitely buy again.

Great Carrier, stayed in place during 5000 mile ride from Fairbanks, Alaska to Buffalo, NY
I used this carrier all the way from Fairbanks to Buffalo NY. I went 5000 miles with a big tote strapped to it plus a smaller one 5000 miles because I went down the coast to Vancouver and Portland, OR. I went through mountains, hills and curves through the Yukon, British Columbia and all of the great Plains states like, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota. etc. All the while, I drive 80-90 mph. (except in the Yukon and British Columbia, it's way too curvy for that fast driving). They just finished paving the road in British Columbia so it was smooth, but you can really only drive 50-55 mph cuz it is so very curvy with lots of up and down, seriously like a rollercoaster.Actually, this is still on the back of my car cuz I'm too lazy to take it off. It has been on the car for over a month. The Drive was for 2 weeks in duration. My car is a Buick Encore GX, so I used the 1 and 1/4 hitch size not the 2 in adaptor that came with it. Just try to balance it out. I got worried, because I didn't do that and it was very heavily packed. PLus I had one of those Giant Suitcases on it The biggest ones they sell. I think I had at least 100-150lbs. but I don't know for sure.

great product
Got this to increase space to carry camping gear and others. was very easy to assemble and install. I did have to go get some reflective tape (as others have mentioned) but it was an easy fix.
