Chinese watts LOL
I bought this mostly because I was curious what you get for 5 bucks. This is not a temperature controlled iron but a simpler variable power one using a lamp dimmer circuit in the handle. I measured the power consumption of this and found it is 5 watts at the lowest position and about 20 watts at the highest. They do have this in the description:"The 20W internal heating electric soldering iron is equivalent to the 40W external one."but no way is it a 60 watt iron. I suspect all others sold here that look similar are like that.It does melt solder and is good for light electronics assembly/repair. I don't know if modifying or bypassing the lamp dimmer would give it a bit more power? There are some YouTube videos about "fixing" these if they run too hot or whatever. Even some hinting that the element is really for 220 volts which would explain the low power on 110 volts. It does take standard 900M tips so that's a good thing. When you first plug it in it might not start heating - you have to turn the control to full on and then lower it.I suspect you'd want to turn it all the way up for normal use and maybe lower it all the way when you are just idling it.But I'd suggest you get a true temperature controlled iron for $20-$30 if you are going to be using it a lot. This one is probably going into my emergency tool bag.

Love it!
Love it! It's perfect for what I'm using it for. I cut the bottom off of water bottles and use them for seeds pots. This little soldering iron melts the perfect size drain holes in the bottom of those bottles, lickety split!

Good tool for adding drainage holes to plastic pots
Bought this tool to add drainage holes to the bottom of plastic containers for gardening. Worked extremely well. Plugged it in, turned the dial to 300, and gave it a minute to heat up. Melted through the plastic like butter. For the price, would highly recommend.

Worked, But Manufactured "Bent"
Hard to beat the price.A couple we received were bent where the replacement tip fits over the heating element. Also, the heating element isn't easily serviced like some other brands.

Does what it should
Easy to use. Temp control allows you to do what you need at the temp you need. It's simple enough yet gets the job done. We only needed a little iron to do something and this worked perfect.

Shipped in a plastic bag...
No instruction sheet - no manual. Waste of money. Had planned on using it to melt/adhere MERV 16 material to make N-95 equivalent masks for personal use.
