Top domestic transformer - Its big but its bountiful
Great transfo. Its sturdy and works well with the devices I purchased it for. It uses old school technology (wound coils) and thus wouldn't be a unit you would put in a backpack for a weekend. That said... car camping as opposed to hike-camping would be fine!.

Yo leader 500W Voltage Transformer
Like many others, I read reviews of many other transformers, and still wasn’t sure which to get. I wanted a transformer that could carry my 110V Purifier. I decided on this particular transformer because the 220/240V switch could take different plugs, not only the 3pin. Also, the transformer was a 500V one, so it should be able to take mid-range products, like my Purifier.I was pleasantly pleased at its effectiveness. It was a check the wattage, plug in, and play. That easy. My Purifier came into life, and purified! lol!

Perfect.
Works perfectly and virtually silently straight out of the box. I use this for my CPAP, which is a very expensive piece of kit. Very pleased and so was my wife because I wasn’t snoring!!!

Quiet and doesn't overheat
Surprisingly quiet for use with audio products and it hasn't overheated during operation. I'm using this to step down a USA built valve amplifier (110v) for use with UK domestic voltage (220-240v). The amplifier is rated at 40watts so I'm not overworking the transformer! The only criticism is the USA plug socket seemed loose and I needed to adjust it for a tighter fit.

Well Built Design : Step-Down Autotransformer 240 to 120 Volt 500 Watts Rated For 350Watt Load Max
Went searching through a lot of these step-down transformers, and converters; most of the reviews were not too promising, and had the tendency to put one off. However, I decided to take a chance on this model:- Yinleader 500W Voltage Transformer... the wattage is 500 but, this is where a lot of buyers make the mistake thinking, it can be used upto the max 500 watts !Not so; and one needs to keep in mind this is the design max INPUT TO LOAD rating when it steps down from 240 Volt to 120 Volt, where the actual max load would in reality be, around 300 to 350 max for this model autotransformer... they need to be used under the design wattage, otherwise they will over heat, and maybe; a much worse fault condition could occur to damage the device your connected too.At this point, you should know there are two types of step-down voltage products out there. First, the much cheaper ones are CONVERTERS, they are electronic in design and step-down the voltage by switching the mains input ON and OFF at the supply 50 or 60 Herts rate, or dedicated oscillator higher rate; it's the same design concept as these DC 5 Volt USB wall socket plugs. The AUTOTRANSFORMER, is an actual coil wound transformer design; with one input winding and a half way taped voltage winding to provide the half voltage output; that's why these are more pricey and heavy in weight... these in my personal opinion are the more reliable unit to buy, nothing to fail other than the over loading of the transformer, as I have outline below. The Yinleader 500W Voltage Transformer has a cut-out on the back, that is a good feature to limit the transformer winding load, if you go over 500 Watts it should cut off; I have not tried to see if it would trip-off ? But if it does, you will need to re-set it after a sort period when cooled down; but at that point you should realise your overloading the autotransformer... it's stressed that a load for this model needs to be no more than 350 Watts and that's pushing it.If in any doubt on the loading, you can do a very simple check; just feel the base of the unit, it should not be hotter than what you can touch and keep your hand on the base... if it's too hot to touch, remove the input supply and let it cool down; then review the loading of the device you have it connected to, and find a much higher Wattage Autotransformer.I would class this transformer as medium wattage, for most light loads like a domestic hair dryer or tongs, a vintage valve radio, standard Filament Lamp and so-on; light power loading. NOT Clothes Irons, Smoothie Mixers, or Food Processors... always check the appliance Wattage First, before using this autotransformer.

Blew up immediately!
This immediately shorted and blew my household electric circuit. It my be a one-off but I would avoid this product.
