Cerrone IV: The Golden Touch

But then again, everything he has done is golden. If he had half as much fun producing this stuff as I had dancing to it, then he must be one very happy dude.

This is one of the greatest disco dance cds ever made. We purchased the original album "The Golden Touch" back in the late 70's and instantly fell in love with it. "Look For Love" has always been one of our favorite songs, and it brings back wonderful memories of dancing the night away!

Cerrone's "THE GOLDEN TOUCH", release in late 1978, smack dab in the middle of the Disco craze, does not disappoint. Having already sold millions of albums worldwide and scoring countless hits across the globe, Cerrone was a superstar and expectations were high for "THE GOLDEN TOUCH". There was no need to worry as the album more then delivered."THE GOLDEN TOUCH" kicks off with an instant classic. "Je Suis Music" became an instant club smash and deservedly so. It's an instantly recognizable hard hitting slice of Euro Disco Heaven. I dare anyone to listen to "Je Suis Music" and not dance. "Rocket in the Pocket" is another catchy groove that is irresistible. "Look for Love" is just as seamless and a perfect dance floor chiller. The album closes with "Music of Life", which is a bit more mellow, but is just as catchy as the rest of the album.For any Disco aficionado and/or collector, this is an extra-ordinary discovery. BBR, as always, delivers the goods in high style. The sound is simply amazing, the original album artwork front and back, is here, and the liner notes are fascinating and definitely add something special to this release. Others take note, this is how a re-master is done.

We all went to discos back in the late 70's for one reason and I will not mention it here. There were hit discos and then there were the ones that played Cerrone, Don Ray, Voyage and the Raes. Sure, the Village People and the Bee Gees got tossed in the mix...the Ritchie Family...et al. But when it was late at night and the DJ wanted only the GOOD dancers on the floor, this is what got played. Disco developed quickly into hit music (played on top 40 radio) and club music. This is classic club disco. I heard some of this at Studio 54 and Regine's in New York, I heard it at a club in San Fran, and it was a staple at the Twilight Lounge on the border of Hartford, Ct, and Arabian Nights outside of Springfield, Mass. You had to know how to dance if this was played at a club, else you looked like a dork. The thing is, irrespective of the time and place, this is great disco. Even so late in life, I still get twitchy just hearing this stuff.

Music Of Life is one of my all time favorite songs: associations with summer, sun, fun, girls come to mind."Je suis music" is also great, but the other songs are average.So "The Golden Touch" is for the hardcore Cerrone fan. The great tracks mentioned above are almost always included on the "Best Of" albums.

A good cd to transport you back to the Eighties!

Epoque dorée de Cerrone qui conclut avec ce brillant 4ème opus le meilleur selon moi de sa période. Tout comme son chiffre l'indique également, on pourrait croire que cet album s'écoute aussi rapidement que ses 4 titres. Certes mais les morceaux sont longs et surtout tous très bons. On pourrait presque croire qu'il s'agit d'un Best Of tant Cerrone s'amuse avec tous les joujoux qu'il avait à disposition sous la main.Quant à la qualité de ce vinyle, elle est irréprochable. La galette est dorée comme le titre de l'album et ne souffre d'aucun craquement avec un son bien pur qui pousse les basses (écouté sur vinyle Pro-Jekt avec ampli Yamaha et HP Infinity soit du mid-gamme).La pochette est GATEFOLD et reprend les visuels d'origine certes moins libidineux cette fois que les 3 autres premiers albums cultes du maître. On y ajoute un petit CD reprenant l'album complet pour ceux qui disposeraient encore d'un autoradio CD dans leur bagnole et faites péter les Watts !

Cercato per anni in quanto credo che il Cerrone IV rappresenti il top della maturità artistica del Batterista francese nonché capostipite della disco music, questo vinile in edizione colorata (in oro) risulta ottimamente registrato e all'ascolto si apprezza tutta la carica e il ritmo. Immortale "Music of life" colonna sonora della mia vita. Grazie.
