I bought specifically this for Pick. Papers which I love. Wrong volume clearly seller did not check or notice. Wasted my money. I would not buy from this seller again.

With the second volume of immortal works of Charles Dickens, brought to the screen by BBC, the pleasure of watching the first volume gets an extention.I am a big fan of the classics English literature and especially Dickens. He is simply the genius. In my humble opinion no other English writer can be even compared with him.Any one of his books is worth reading.And to watch this BBC dramatization is a great pleasure too - it is true Dickens - bright and sparkling on the screen as he does in every one of his books.If you are the newcomer to the world of his books - watch the movies and be encouraged to go for reading then. You will never regret.

Part of Dickens' genius was the ability to enable the reader to FEELthe time and place of the storyline unfolding, as well as the visualizethe gamut of intriguing characters.The BBC has, again, done the same for the viewer. Selection oflocations, environments and characters is simply wonderful -- sure tokeep the viewer engrossed, even though the dialogue is uncompromisinglyBritish.The only caveat is that the viewer must remember that these areADAPTATIONS of Dickens' novels -- and, therefore, there are omissionsand modifications to the originals.The modifications make it very easy for teachers to determine whetheror not a student has actually read the novel or just enjoyed the DVD!

After renting this series from my local library, I decided to purchase it along with the rest of the Charles Dickens collections, all of which were also enjoyable. I found the novel a bit difficult to understand and at times boring, but this production really made the story come alive. I was not bored at all while watching the series, and would recommend that Charles Dickens fans see this series. The acting is great throughout the film, especially Maggie Smith as the aunt. Daniel Radcliff also does an excellent job as the young David. The costumes in the movie were also splendid to look at. The series really helps you to identify with the characters and understand the world as it was during the time period.

The collection is a very good deal. You are not getting five movies, but you are getting 5 television miniseries based on the works of Charles Dickens. They were broadcast on BBC TV in the years from 1960 to 1999. They range considerably in video quality. The earliest, Barnaby Rudge, is in black and white. The other four are in color. The David Copperfield DVD is single sided, the other four are double sided. Each DVD is packed in its own slimline case.

The BBC productions of Charles Dickens' works, both volumes one and two, are exceptional. The production values of the presentations are peerless, and the closed captioning make the films accessible to both old and young. Above all, the casting is faultless throughout. These people not only act, but live their roles. You empathize with their joys and sorrows. Equally important is the use of sets that recreate the colorful world of Victorian England. Finally, the direction of these stories captures the heart and soul of Dickens' novels. See these films and then read the books. If you love people, you will be richly rewarded. Highly recommended.

If you're a Dickens fan, these multi-episode stories are delightful. The accents are thick, but understood with patience after a time. Not your normal movie format with a roaring background score, they have a more intimate touch. Through exceptional acting and character development they draw you deeper into each plot, until you refuse to postpone viewing the next episode. Can't wait to purchace the other set of Dickens stories by these same producers.

It's pure Dickens

Really disappointed as the DVD ‘S wouldn’t load on my player. The outward quality looked good as described by the seller, but failed to load.Return was easy via Canada post.

I searched the internet to find some of the less popular Dickens novels on DVD, so was delighted to find that this was available from the USA.

This set compliments the Charles Dickens Collection 1. They both stand independent but when you love this time period and style of movies you need both sets. Excellent company to order from, good shipping, brand new product.

Dickens can be a really hard read, most stories are not happy ones. Pickwick Papers was quite amusing - I should have ended the collection on that happy note!
