Seek truth, justice will be found. . .
I truly love K.C. Lynn and K. Langston, as I think they are both amazing authors who are not afraid to tackle some of the most sensitive social and personal issues. I really wanted to like this book, and for the most part I did...absolutely.What I loved most was Grayson's conviction to stand up for truth and justice, no matter what, or where it lead him. What I didn't agree with was the treatment of what Olivia went through, and the way the Black Lives Matter movement was handled. Someone else may feel differently than me, and that's ok because this is definitely my opinion. I'm not here to persuade anyone to my side, just discuss where I may see things differently.Yes, all lives do matter, but there's a reason for the Black Lives Matter movement, just like there's a reason we have historically black colleges, the NAACP, and etc. History has proven time and time again (and continues) that lives of people of color do not mean as much as others, and that we're not always treated fairly. Grayson remembers something his father told him before he died, and I'm just paraphrasing a little, but he says Seek truth, and you will find justice. For people of color, the truth could be right there for the world to see, but we rarely get the justice. I could go on and on stating factual evidence of this, but I'll stop here. I respect these authors' opinions and the fact that Langston and Lynn wrote this book from their perspective. The brutality of what Olivia endured is what I struggled with even more than the way Black Lives Matter was portrayed in this story. What happened to her was terrible, violent, and devastating. I know this is a suspenseful, contemporary romance, and I also respect that these two authors probably did not wish to dwell on the heaviness of this particular issue. But in doing so, it made Olivia seem quite nonchalant about what happened to her. I was looking for her to break down, pull away, or just be hysterical at any moment. The only glimpse of that is at a police line up. Even still, it was glossed over too quickly, and in doing so, I think these two authors missed an opportunity to show that even the strongest of survivors have moments of weakness, breakdowns, or even times where they feel hopeless because they can't understand why things happened to them. I understand that people are different, and therefore, react differently in situations. Olivia, to me, was just a little too eager to move on with no difficulty at all. She had a small bout with insecurity, but for me, because she trudged on so quickly in a sexual relationship, I fought hard to emotionally connect with her. She worked to put everyone else's mind at ease about what happened, but what about her emotional state? Her struggles? Her fight to regain some sense of who she was before that awful event took place? As I've said before, Langston and Lynn are amazing writers, and I've always enjoyed their work. I still admire these authors' writing talent, and I appreciate that they had the guts to tackle these subjects. I do, however, just had to make it known what my issues were with this story.

Absolutely Brilliant - Just what this world needs a lesson in Peace and Love
KC Lynn and K Langston have come together to present a modern day story whose message needs to be spread throughout the world. The events of this book are real, raw and could take place in any town. The emotions are so raw and gut wrenching you can almost feel like you are there with the character feeling them as well. The major events that happen are powerful and are meant to be thought provoking; however, there is a story and lesson with it. The lesson is one which everyone needs to learn and remember especially in a world which everyone wants to turn towards their favor. The lesson is it should be about right and wrong, peace and love, not on hate. You will fall in love with Grayson. A strong, possessive man who wants justice. You will feel the strength of Liv as she faces the trials of the aftermath of what happened to her. You will feel their love and devotion to each other as they try and help each other through it.You will laugh at some of the antics as well (can I just say HLB). There are moments of sunshine as well and Pap just reminds me of my grandaddy so much that I had to stop and remember those good times with him as well.Thank you both KC Lynn and K Langston for being brave and creating such a masterpiece. You ladies are Strong, You are Fierce and you are Beautiful.

A Must READ!!!!
While I have read every book by K.C. Lynn and am a huge fan girl, this will be my first by K. Langston but it definitely will not be my last. Some people will not want to read this book because of the topic but please don’t let that stop you. There is a powerful and important message in this story. This book was released at the perfect time with so many tragic events occurring, it's important for us not to lose sight of the world around us. I thank both authors for believing that this story needs to be told and being willing to write it.Unlawful Justice is not only about the love story of Olivia and Grayson but it’s also about what happens to a small town community after a tragic and devastating sequence of events. While some are seeking justice, others are looking for revenge causing the town of Harmony Falls, Texas to be torn apart. Secrets will be revealed and old wounds will be reopened. But there will also be love, hope, friendship, true justice, forgiveness, and self-awareness.What happened to Olivia SHOULD NOT have happened EVER. There are people in this world who are just evil and deserve to be sent to a special place far worse than hell. This statement is based on action not on a person’s race, gender, religion, or any other category that is often used to justify personal prejudices.I don’t want to tell too much of this story because I feel like you should go in with an open mind. I will say this, if at any time you feel uncomfortable or start to evaluate your self-awareness that’s a good thing. This is a story that will make you stop and think. Sometimes all we need to do to see what is happening around us is LOOK...

Very timely and "ripped from the headlines"
This was a tough story to read because of the topic. But, I applaud the authors for taking on the topic of racism and rape. The overall subject of the book is very timely and "ripped from the headlines". This is the first book I've read by the authors. I enjoyed their writing in general, but I think the too liberal use of foul language as others have noted took away from the story. It's was really too much. There's no need to include the F-word or repeatedly blaspheme the Lord's name.I didn't find the rape scene over the top. I though it and the scenes describing racist interactions were written very well. I just wish the rest of the book was written with as much restraint. Like other readers I questioned Liv's ability to enter into a sexual relationship so quickly after her assault. It just seemed too soon after the trauma.I enjoyed Liv and Grayson's story.

The love story between these two builds throughout the book under ...
Wow... Wow... ok one more... Wow!!!!!Contains spoilers!!!!!!!!!!Where to start?!?!?!?! OK so this is the Story of Liv and Grayson. Liv is a small town girl who teaches high school kids and is a bit of a book nerd. She makes jewellry in her spare time and lives with her grandfather after her parents died when she was young. Grayson is the towns Deputy, he was the towns star football player and the son of a former sheriff who was Grayson's hero, he had unfortunately passed away a few years before. Liv and Grayson had gone to the same school but never really mixed as he was a few years older than her and one of the popular kids. Liv was always quiet and kept to herself. Of course she had secret crush on him but little did she know he had one on her! The love story between these two builds throughout the book under the worst circumstances and it blooms into a love we all dream of.Their lives are brought together under terrible circumstances. I hate to give spoilers but i feel i need to tell you a little. It starts with an event which ends with her grandfather, Pap, unfortunately shooting and killing a young man who was stealing and trespassing on his property. He couldn't see who it was and just sought to protect his granddaughter and home. Unfortunately it ends up being one of Liv's students a young black man and unfortunately the town turns the event into a racial attack not the accident it was. The story gets worse from here and Liv gets severely hurt. I will tell you it's the worst you can imagine but the book does not go into graphic detail for which i was really grateful for. In fact it was handled amazingly in that you know what happens but gory details are spared. Grayson is the one to find her and it almost destroys him too as he has started to fall for her. If it's possible as well as these events which are bad enough there's a twisted web of lies and hatred in the town which is brought to light by these events.I don't think i'm doing it justice in my account but it's hard to explain without giving away the whole thing. I will say i loved it all! The story line kept me hanging on every word i was eager to turn every page. The emotions it brought out were unexpected. I was angry, i was furious in fact i had a knot in my stomach for quite a while. The injustice and the hatred poured off the page as though it was a family member, as if it was a loved one i cared about was effected by it my feelings were so strong. I actually thought it would bring me to tears not this reaction. but.... the tears did come but not from what i expected they came at love not hatred and hurt and pain but from love!!! Not just Grayson and Liv's love although it was amazing and as a side note... love scenes.... yuh huh!!! wowzers i want a Grayson!!! no it didn't come from there it came from unity and standing up for what's right and just. After a difficult scene this came and oooooh the floodgates opened!! The ending was just what i wanted for all of them, not just Liv and Grayson but the supporting characters too. Liv's best friend Tania and her brother Terrell who is Grayson's best friend. Also Liv's Pap and Grayson's mom. These played a major part in the story and i'm glad it was wrapped up fantastically for them too!!The authors in my opinion achieved what i think they set out to do. They made me think, they made me feel, they made me understand different sides of the story and they made me believe in justice!I loved this book it will be one i return to time and again. Amazing job KC Lynn and K Langston! I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

A story not to be missed!!
These two authors do such a brilliant job with Unlawful Justice, they bring some very delicate subject matters and incorporate it witnin the very emotional romance storyline. There are plenty of strong messages running throughout and very well written, unfortunately behaviour breads behaviour and if everyone isn't on the same page it's easy to see how situations arise.Olivia and Grayson's story is beautifully told but not without its fair share of grief, it was after the first incident at the farm with Jamal loosing his life that set a dreadful trail of events to unfold and it gets really desperate, the town becomes devidid and certain people take sides but through it all there are those who stick to their beliefs, there's no room for hatred it's all about knowing what's right and whats wrong, it's as simple as that or it should be.Olivia could have let what happened to her define her but she didn't, there is no right or wrong way to deal with such a dreadful act, thankfully she was able to overcome it with the help of Grayson who practically never left her side and the wonderful support of Walt, Tania and Terrell.Thankfully truth and justice prevailed and the town united once again and we got a beautiful epilogue with those right messages being delivered to the next generation!!This is a very powerful story and whist I'm very familiar with all of K.C.Lynn's books this is the first time I've read anything of K.Langston... Brilliant together!!

INTENSE, UNPUTDOWNABLE, BRILLIANT!
The profound and emotional impact this novel had on me left me extremely disturbed. Apart from questioning my own incredulity, I needed facts to back up what I had read. Is it possible that there's still the slightest trace of this kind of xenophobia in today's western society, because I honestly thought this irrational infirmity been eradicated. When I finished reading, and after shedding many tears, I needed to talk to somebody about it. I needed opinions and someone who could help me process my feeling. My husband highlighted some harsh truths; my devastation being ten-fold made me come down to earth with a big thump. Nevertheless, one must not forget this is a story.Just before the end, I was chatting online with my buddy reader-cum-sister-in arms and these were our very words which I would like to share with you.“What you reading?”“Unlawful Justice. It's like watching a movie. So much flow, so much character development. The plot is very different. Full of twists and turns and the editing is perfect. Nearly eighty percent in and not one mistake.”Never a true word said. I couldn't find fault. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a grammar monster. But apart from that, I look for consistency, reason and I need to connect to the protagonists. And oh boy, did I connect! The heroine has such a wonderful personality. She is the sweetest most open-minded person I have yet to meet in a book! Olivia Bradshaw is a dedicated English literature teacher in a conflictive school in a quiet town in Texas. Her students love her, she loves them. Events take place causing a snowball effect and her world comes tumbling down. But she's strong, incredibly forgiving, and what impressed me more was that her pain always took second place.Quote: Olivia ~ "I'm a big girl, Grayson, I can handle it."It was dismaying to see that what happened triggered off so much animosity between life long friends and neighbours. I found myself reading so fast that I had to literally rewind at times. I couldn't absorb all the goings on and had to slow down. And there is no doubt whatsoever that Grayson Taylor who just happens to be an officer of the law and a gentleman in all aspects, had me enthralled. Come hell or highwater, this man will find justice and make those pay for their sins.Quote: Grayson ~ "Trust me, Trust me to keep you safe."Now, I am not often lost for words but this guy just left me with my tongue hanging out. He's a couple of years older than Livy, has had his eye on her but never made a move since she's always had her head in a book and ignored everything going on around her. Saying that, her schoolgirl crush on him was in her dreams. Time goes by and they cross paths. She's a tad dubious of getting involved because of past amorous experiences but gives him the benefit of the doubt. Grayson and Livy become friends. The attraction they have for each other palpitates throughout this read. I could feel it. I could feel his protective manner from the very start of their relationship. When the worst happens, I would never have thought in a million years there could ever be a man so considerate, so patient and so loving. Grayson, you are now officially my book boyfriend! Understandably, he does have his moments of aggressiveness and problems controlling his ire, but wise words will bring back memories which makes him disbelieve everything he was taught.Quote: "Seek the truth and you will find justice."Besides being told in present tense and from the two protagonists' point; wait for it, there's someone else's secret opinion which kept me sitting on the edge of my seat. For me, the storytelling technique used was beyond my expectations, the flowing banter was poignant, tender and moments of sheer happiness had me jumping for joy. The well-described hot steamy scenes were a beautiful compliment to this risqué read and gave me space to come up for air.Quote: Grayson ~ "I'm yours, Liv. Yours. I could never belong to anyone else."I really think these two authors have been very brave touching a subject so delicate. Regardless of one's beliefs, whether or not we choose to ignore racial conflicts or not, they have written a book that I will never forget. The secondary characters were marvellous in the respect that you either loved them to bits or wanted to jump into the book and put a hole in their heads. I could quote passages until the cows come home; however, I won't because you have to read this book for yourselves. To sum up, the only word I have is Bravo!

Amazing Book !!!!
Sweet mother of god, seriously this book was SO good. I cannot explain how blown away i was with this collaboration by these two amazingly talented and beautiful author's, the writing was seamless. This book is about Racism, Hatred,Corruption and Injustice.I've taken a few Quotes from this book which i love.Hate isn't something you're born with, it's taught.I absolutely believe this to be true people are born with a blank canvas and it's our parents and the people we are surrounded by that mould us into the people we are today."When the eyes of hate are upon you, look away.""This wouldn't be the first time we taught this world a thing or two. Let's take our seats, Liv, and show them what this is really about."Growing up my brother was bullied and called names for the colour of his skin. He constantly got called N***er and told to go back to his own country. Baring in mind he was British and White. (we have an Olive complection because of the Mediterranean side of our family.) He was told repeatedly to ignore their hatred and they'd lose interest. So to me these quotes really do mean something. I always remember thinking, what would it be like if people were kind to one another. I guess we will never know a world with true peace, but if your kind maybe others will follow suit. This book had me hooked from the very first page, it will have you constantly guessing whats going on throughout. ( i was pm'ing my friend who'd beta read it, throwing my ideas and thoughts at her.)It really did keep me questioning and thats not something that usually happens.Although the book is about Racism, it doesn't deeter away from the beautiful love story that's coming to life throughout. Liv and Grayson are beautiful together. The chemistry explodes between them whenever they are in the same vicinity.Liv is a strong, attractive, kind young woman that's had alot of bad stuff happen to her but she doesn’t let that dull her shine.Grayson is a handsome, strong-willed, intelligent young man. Who wants nothing more than to find the guys who caused harm to the ones he loves and bring them to justice.Honestly whether you've read KC.LYNN or K.LANGSTON books before or not you seriously don't want to let this one slip through your fingers.I can't wait to read more by these two creative geniuses.I wish i could give more than 5 ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
