The Woolworths Girls

This book is such a good read and is really inormative. I won't go into more detail as to not spoil the read but is definitely a good spend of your time whether reading is hobby of yours or not so much

A wonderful introduction to a group of people you get to know so well, you end the novel thinking of them as friends. Thankfully there are more novels to follow and I can't wait to get started.

I had already read one of the woolworth girls books not realizing it was the third of a series = there are 7 altogether and i have now purchased all of them. Have just started to read this one and am enjoying it

The Woolworths Girls met- and exceeded my expectations. Elaine Everest is a natural storyteller- the story and the words flow beautifully sucking you in with every turn of the page. These are characters that actually speak to you and ask you to think about them and really care what happens to them. My special favourites were Maisie and Betty- and everybody should have a Ruby in their lives! Even before you read a single chapter, the cover is exquisite- beautiful shades of pale blue and cherry blossom, I loved it. Sometimes, when you read a wartime saga they seem timeless- they could be set in almost any decade. This is just what sets the Woolworths Girls way above the others in the genre, the level of period detail is nothing less than astonishing. The amount of research Elaine must’ve undertaken is mind boggling and the result is a novel that could only be set at the very beginning of World War Two. Reading The Woolworths Girls is to step back in time and experience a world that felt unsafe and uncertain, making life perilous and difficult for the characters who lived through this era. I thought it was very touching, nostalgic, warm and truly delightful. I absolutely loved it and I can only hope Elaine will tell us more about the lives of her lovely characters.

Bought this series for my 89year old Mum who is now absolutely addicted to these stories! Working her way through the series at great speed!!
