Getting a reasonable low quality product
They give you 12 units in a pack - which, when I bought it, was about $2.50 each light. This is not a bad value for solar pathway lights, by any standard. By the same token, I expected to get a low quality product... and was not disappointed. It's a low quality product. I agree with the reviewers who mentioned that the product is not at all like the pictures. The photographer is pretty amazing. Those pictures make this product look like a very solid, and sturdy product. It's not. The metallic outside is actually a very thin sheath. Be careful, you can bend it out of shape if you squeeze too hard. The bulbs themselves are tiny little LED bulbs. If you can imagine the little LED on your TV or DVD player being the main bulb of this pathway light, that's essentially what you got. It's just enough to show you the outline of something at night. Don't expect to be able to see the surrounding area from the light of this bulb. Some reviewers have said that two of their lights stopped working after just a few weeks. I found that one of mine stopped working after a few days. HOWEVER, it's really easy to take apart and diagnose. In the one unit that stopped working, I opened it up and tested the unit with a different AAA battery. It immediately started working normally. What I don't know (yet) is whether the charging circuit is defective on this unit or that the vendor is providing really really low quality rechargeable AAA batteries (because that's what's in these things - rechargeable AAA Nickel Metal Hydride batteries). I'd guess that for the reviewers complaining about short life of unit, if you replaced the batteries with higher quality rechargeable AAA batteries, you would be fine.Anyway, if you are the kind of person who steers away from a screw driver, maybe this product isn't for you. At any price, throwing away "defective" units after just a week or so is not acceptable. If you don't mind opening up something you spent just a few bucks each unit, then you can probably troubleshoot most electrical issues you encounter with this.Make no mistake, it IS cheaply made though. I would have preferred that the vendor include less units, but increase the quality of each unit. If nothing else, if you were fooled by the pictures regarding quality, it will also fool any visitors to your home as long as they don't touch the unit and realize how cheaply it's made.**** UPDATE 10/31/2016In my review, I said I would try to replace the rechargeable battery of my one failing unit. It did the trick (in my case - I'm not guaranteeing that it will work for you or those people who had failing units out of the box). Now, all 12 of 12 of my units are working just fine. My assumption that the units were shipped with really poor quality AAA batteries appears to be correct. I expect that I will need to perform the same battery replacement on all my units over the next several months.

So upon arrival I set the lights where I wanted them in the morning. That night there was one already not working. I placed it in a different location to see if that would solve the issue but that didn't help.It has been about 2 months and 3 others have stopped working so I have 8 out of 12 that work. The ones that work have a nice glow and look good but overall I got a few bad lights.Take it for what it is, these are not expensive so if a few don't work it's not like I paid $50-$60 for them but you still expect to have 12 operational lights.I did contact the seller and they refunded my money so A+ for them. They couldn't have been better to work with.I feel everyone should have the information concerning my experience so they can look at other reviews and make an informed purchase.

Pretty, fragile, some quality control issues
They're cute and they do the job, but they're really fragile. As others have noted, out of the dozen in the package, two never worked, and a couple more have quit in the few weeks since I put them in. If this happens to you, SAVE THE PARTS, so you can swap them out for others that inevitably will get broken. Once stuck into the ground, these little lights are susceptible to very easy kicking over, breaking off the spike part.Nevertheless these little lights do cast a nice, helpful glow (it's star-like and very pretty) over a path or walkway. The ones that have kept working charge up nicely in the daylight, come on at dusk, and seem to stay on for most of the night. For the price, they're really not bad.

I had high expectations
The first thing I would like to say about this product: 1 it came with terrible directions. I broke 1 of them, just trying to put it together. The secret it to pull the spike out from one end and install it in the other end of the metal tube. The second thing is: What should the position of the ON/OFF switch be for automatic operation? Do they even function with the switch OFF? I know they light up with the switch ON, but what purpose does it serve, if you have to disassemble them to turn them off and on. I feel all these questions could be addressed with the addition of a paragraph or two in the directions. Is saving printer ink that important?

Some dont work have to wiggle them
I purchased 2 of these one set for camping to make easier to know our site at night and 1 set for home along the path way. The light is OK at night seem to last but loose it's brightness. There are a few that do not light if I tap on them or wiggle the switch some of them will work until the next night. And a couple will flash like they are going to work but don't. As cheap as they are and are made I didn't really expect them to last but at least all work when new. For our need it's not a huge issue we can space then out. Beats running wires

The solar lights are ok. They aren't very bright, so they have to be placed very close together in order to light a pathway. In the package of 12 I received, only 8 of them actually work, the remaining 4 do not light up at all. The solar batteries aren't very big; the lights only last a few hours after sunset, which is disappointing. I had hoped they would last longer. To be fair, this is the first set of solar lights I've purchased, so maybe that's normal.

Meh...good enough?
3/12 didn't work at all and I had to fiddle with at least three more to get them to work properly. Fairly cheaply built but I suppose for the price I couldn't expect more. I was just hoping they were better than the previous set I had purchased at Wal-Mart for a lesser price...I guess they were in some ways. I like the blue-ish lights & the reach. They're much brighter than the other set. However, I would not buy again.
