Dictionary of American Idioms

I have a old edition and lent it to a friend. Decided to get the latest edition and I am very happy I did. Some of the old idioms, the ones we don't use have been removed and it is very accurate. My English students love it.

Fácil de encontrar o idiom desejado. Claro que não tem todos os idioms, porque há inúmeros. Nem sei quantos idioms existem, mas os mais usados vc encontra no livro.Chegou super rápido e estou usando muito.Livro útil. Uso para consultas. Explicação simples e direta, e também possui pelo menos uma frase de exemplo. Vale cada centavo gasto.Muito bom.

初版が1975年で、その後改訂を重ねる息の長いイディオム辞典である。世界各国で使われているのであろうか、今回の版ではアラビア語、中国語、フランス語、ドイツ語、ヘブライ語、イタリア語、日本語の序文がついている。収録イディオムは約8000で分かりやすい英語の定義と例文がついている。見出しが語が青色であとは黒色印刷である。版を重ねているにもかかわらず校正ミスがある。たとえば、computer literate adj,..One who has experience with computers…computer savvy adj…Someone who had special computer skills..のadj. はn.だろう。イディオム研究で著名なマッカイが全面改訂したアメリカ英語イディオム辞典である。彼の著書　Idiom Structure in English（１９７２）と合わせて読むとよいだろう。

It is a good book, there are a lot of idioms, but quite a few are missing (e.g. 'at the top of the game'). When I search for a specific phrase, I prefer using online Urban Dictionary, but as a non-native speaker, I often refer to the book just to learn a couple of more new idioms.The delivery of the book was quick but the cover was a little bit crumpled.
