Definitely one for the collection! Beautiful!
I pre-ordered this deck, and couldn't wait to receive it!! Well, it has now arrived, and I am just as in love with it as I thought I would be!The art work is beautiful, and the cards feel lovely in your hands. It also seemed to resonate with me immediately... I started shuffling, and a card jumped out, no other than the lamb... an animal I collected little trinkets of for many years of my life when younger... It is like it was telling me it knew who I was :)I need to play with it more, but so far, I am so pleased I bought it. Perhaps slightly more lengthy descriptions would be nice? But it is a rather gentle (but honest!) deck for readings, and still a pleasure to use. I need to work on my intuition, more so, I think! My only criticism (which isn't a biggie) is that there isn't an index for cards, so trying to find the book's description for the card can be a bit haphazard (though I often opened the book up at the right page, oddly)... you have to find the element, then flick through the animals in that element until you find it.Oooh, another thing, some cards don't seem to be well aligned for the image in the card (larger white margins one side than the other). It doesn't bother me majorly, but may bother other owners. Not hugely noticeable, but worthy of note. (I'll try to add some images later)If you want a lovely, gentle, interesting, well illustrated deck for your collection, go for it :) it's nice to see animals rather than 'human' faces, and learn a little more about new species' and how it represents your life.

Almost returned this
I almost returned this, but decided to keep it. However to really use this deck I suggest complimenting it with another resource. I don't suggest using this without another resource, and taking this guide book as your only way to read the cards. For one example, this deck says that the Rabbit is afraid of everything, overwhelmed, and frozen. This guidebook says that the Rabbit complains and talks loudly (animals do not complain and are very present orientated), which causes the Eagle to come down and eat it (rabbits are actually very quiet and do not draw attention to themselves). The book is right that the Rabbit keeps fear alive, however it does not acknowledge that a healthy fear is good for all of us (it is out of balance fear that can be damaging) and without that fear the Rabbit would be dead as it is prey for many types of predators. This guidebook book does not acknowledge that the rabbit is alert and on guard because it has so many predators and this is a good thing to protect oneself and be cautious with yourself and whom you let get close. This book does not acknowledge that the rabbit is about quick thinking, strategic (whether digging holes with exit strategies to freezing in the face of danger), and also how the rabbit represents the 28 day cycle of the moon (e.g. the rabbit raise a litter in 28 days to make room for the next) which connects to the cycles of our body with the Earth, rebirth, changes, and growth / fertility. This guidebook is right in encouraging balance, but it also misrepresents the essence of the Rabbit in favor of the negative traits (and this guidebook does the same with some other animals). The overall stance of the Rabbit card is to be in balance and not let fear rule you, to come into inner silence and quiet. However the same message could have been stated while honoring the wisdom of the species and their essence, and not painting them in such a negative light. This guidebook does this with other of the animals as well. I do like the setup of this deck (divided into elements, and incorporating the 7 main charkas), and it does have some good basis for many of the animals (although often narrow minded and ignoring the range of qualities each animal tells us about the wisdom of its species), but I think that this deck should be used side by side with a book such as Animal Speak, by Ted Andrews.

A keeper!
I literally wow'd when opened the package. I do have and love the Wild Unknown deck too, and this does not disappoint. In fact the artwork is perhaps even more beautiful. Beautifully packaged and card stock is good too (seems to be a rarity these days). It reads like an Oracle deck, but the author has gone through great lengths to explain the meaning behind and beyond the cards.EDIT: for those asking about an index...there is not a general one but the book lists the cards in order of element (fire, water etc), so just need to look at that section to find the appropriate card.

Some blemished cards, and some fear inducing for phobics! Beware!
The cards are a little thinner than I would have liked, they don't feel like great quality. On the back of 3 of the cards there is ink smudged, to the extent that I know, even face down, which of these cards have been drawn.Just an opinion thing, there is a Tarantula card. As someone with arachnophobia, this gave me a huge fright, as there is nothing artistic or beautiful about it (like, in my opinion the snake card) and I had to remove it from my deck. The meaning behind it is fine, but could have easily been assigned to an 'animal' that doesn't carry with it such fear for many. Though, that said, there are two snake iterations in here, along with a scorpion. For my fellow phobics, beware upon opening! I am also aware that the exact manner that I use this deck is my prerogative, and removing the spider card is a valid way to deal with it. It's just a shame that it's not that card this is blemished, instead of my fish/bear/wolf cards.
