Jennis Silicone Steamer Basket With New Non-slip Ridges To Keep Food From Falling Off

I got this for my son who is away at college doing some independent studies. He likes to cook rice and Asian noodles so I thought this would be amazing for him. I see the handles can be joined together so I figure he can take it from the pot and eat right out of the strainer! Then clean up would be such a breeze for him. He's that lazy. I'm thinking of getting one for myself as the possibilities for this gem are endless and the price is in my affordable range.I'm thinking I can use this for rinsing berries as well?All this time later and after several visits to my son I found out the other people in the house they rent also enjoy using this over a metal strainer. These people are only cooking for one so this is just what they need. One young man is a cook and loves cooking up meals when his girlfriend visits, they cook together, she said she had to get one for her home. They cook all kinds of vegetables and pasta's this way.

I bought this specifically to use in my Instant Pot pressure cooker to lift out bowls when I am using the PIP method of cooking and it works brilliantly!!! The base is nice and flat and fits perfectly in the IP liner. The lifting handles are nice and long and come almost to the top of the liner when held straight up. Here is the other great thing....it is also an awesome steaming tray! The color is fresh and fun too.

I love that this basket fits in almost all sizes of pots (it might not work well in the smallest size pot). It is easy to handle, even once the veggies are steamed, as the silicone does not heat up. This is much more convenient than metal steamer baskets.

Seems like nice quality but just didn't fit our saucepan properly. They were very helpful with allowing us to return the item unused.

This is my first steamer basket.  Recently I have changed a lot of things in my life to live a healthier lifestyle.  The way I cook is one of the main things I have changed.  I do not eat much fried foods, I’m more of a grilled and baked type of gal.  I got this basket so I can indulge in steaming foods.  I particularly like steamed veggies and instead of just throwing them in a pot and boiling them I have the steamer.  Steamed veggies taste so much better, especially when they are fresh. I like the fact that the basket is flexible and has a non-slip feature. And I also like that it is microwave safe, so If I am having a lazy day, I can just throw it in the microwave and still have some fresh veggies.*Disclaimer: I received this product at a discount/free in exchange of my honest review. I love the green color of the steamer. I wanted it to use in my Instant Pot which is an electric pressure cooker. I have used it several times for vegetables including potatoes. I like it better than the one that came with the Instant Pot. The Jennis one has slightly rounded sides that make it easier when taking it back out of the pot without spilling the food as happened often with my previous flat one. I like the locking arms which also results in success when lifting it out. Even though it is called a basket be aware it doesn't come up all the way on the sides like what a traditional "basket" does. I still want to get a steamer basket for other uses. This one though is good for steaming eggs, fish, vegetables, chicken beasts etc for maybe two people. I have also used it in the microwave. If you steam in microwave, be smarter than me and realize that you will have leakage onto microwave bottom if you don't put dish or paper towels under. There are holes in it after all!I have washed in dishwasher as well as by hand.Only complaint is that there were no directions at all in the package. I would have at least expected a paper saying it was ok for dishwasher, microwave etc, and maybe suggested uses....but nothing.It is lightweight and handles are thin as is the locking part. My arthritic hands might like it better if the handles were thicker.Oh I noticed one or two reviews mention it coming with mitts to use for getting it out of hot pots, mine did not have these.
