John Frieda Body & Shine Smooth Waves; 8 2-inch Jumbo Rollers

The John Frieda set of hot rollers heat up very well and quickly. The flocked surface of the rollers is very smooth and gentle on hair. The 2-inch rollers are huge but not heavy. The clips work fairly well, especially with practice getting them positioned just right. 8 rollers seems perfect. So why not 5 stars? I spent hours searching for the right set of hot rollers and kept coming back to this set. However, I did not pay attention to a few things. First, KNOW YOUR HAIR. Mine is very smooth, straight, healthy, long, and fine, and I have a lot of it. I did not want or expect curl with 2-inch rollers. I was seeking body, volume, and a tiny bit of bend at the ends. But winding long smooth hair around a smooth surfaced roller is expecting a lot. The top of the head/crown area where I want lift was manageable. I could secure the rollers and although they wobbled, they didn't fall out. On the rest of the head, if I was very careful and tried not to move my head, the clip would hold the roller in place for a few seconds, but would then slip out. Smooth hair needs some grip. These rollers would be ideal for dry, damaged, curly, unruly, medium length to long hair. AND READ the RETURN RULES. This product cannot be returned. Had I noticed that, I might have been smarter. Since I'm stuck with them, I'll use them on top of the head, and use a large barrel curling iron for the rest.

Gives a little wave to otherwise straight hair but does NOT curl. Depending on your hair type, if it curls well with othr products, it will get volume from this. If you have flat hair, it will give it a little bit of wave that dwindles through the day but still looks better than otherwise flat straight hair but it can only give a little volume if your hair is sleek. Preferable to the curling iron or daily basis just because it is lower heat and it also has 2 heat settings, low and high. I like to warm it up the whole time i blow dry my hair so it reaches full heat. (Even though it says it takes a few mins to heat, but i notice it keeps getting hotter if i leave it a little extra long if i have time) Then leave in while doing light make up. Its good for a daily bit of style. I gave 3 stars because i wish they had 1.75 inch. It would give true waves where my hair currently falls straight by the half day mark. No company seems to think 1.75 inch is useful or a big difference so no company carries a whole set of them, only a few in mixed sets that wouldnt give me at least 6 of them. But the curling iron in the picture is 1.5 inch so i know the difference from 1.5 inch to 2 inches and the one in between would be a perfect size for waves that last longer!PHOTOS: first one is so you can see the whole device with a few in and the rest is the container with metal sheets inside that warm up. 2nd pic is so you can see size compared to a 1.5 inch hot tools curling iron. I love the hot tools when i have time but only use it for events, holidays, special date nights, so these are good for a lesser look than that but also take less time.

Give hot rollers a try! They are SO much easier (in my opinion) than a curling iron or round brush (in order to get the look you want with these).So, my hair is a little on the damaged side due to flat-ironing nearly every day. Flat-ironing will provide the smooth look I am looking for, but the damage it causes is a vicious cycle. I am also sick of my hair looking so FLAT! I LOVE these rollers! These rollers are covered in a felt-like material to help protect the hair and also has 'ionic technology' to help provide shine. These provide shine, body, minimal damage to the hair (if any) AND give that smooth, polished, sophisticate look I want. As these are 2-inch rollers, they are not going to give you bouncy curls, but that is not the intent. Body and wave is what you will get with a curler this size. I have somewhat fine hair with layers that sits a little past my shoulders, so the 8-roller set works best for me. You can plug these in and they will heat up in about 2 minutes (one of the rollers has a red dot on the top that will turn white when it's ready). There are two heat settings; I've just been using the hottest setting and not having any problem with it.I watched a video and read some instructions on how to properly set your hair. I was just putting in the curlers somewhat haphazardly and having trouble with the clips staying (like the roller would want to fall out and it would just be hanging). Once I figured out how to roll my hair correctly, I did not have trouble using the provided clips. Leave these in your hair for about 20 minutes (or until completely cool) and make sure your hair is dry. Voila!

Pros: Love the big loose curls, how fast it heats up, how fast they work. Heats in a few minutes. Remove after 10 minutes to great results. I have a ton of hair, very thick and wild, about 2” longer than shoulder length hair.Cons: they’re a bit pricier than I would have liked. I’ve used hot rollers for decades so I’m used to how to use them but the clips for these are frustrating to get the hang of. I read you have to have them so the opening faces towards the floor. For the most part that works but the ones in top of my head require two clips to barely hold in place. That’s what keeps me from giving 5 stars.I hope you find this review helpful.

Amo esta marca, excelentes hot rollers, tengo mucho y largo cabello así que 8 tubos son suficientes, la única herramienta que me funciona para peinarme rápido todos los días, compre unos en USA la versión de 5 en Target, recuerdo los compre más caros, fascinada con mi compra, además deja el pelo con rizos grandes tipo Victoria's Secret ;) el único requerimiento es el cabello bien seco

Disappointing product, total waste of my money. The rollers take a long time to heat up and then the heat is not enough to smooth out the hair to remove the frizz. The clips are useless, they don't stay in place.
