Pelikan Opaque Watercolor Paint Set, 12 Colors Plus Chinese White Tube (720854)

This is incredible paint for the price! I am somewhat a beginner, but the cheap paints I have used cannot compare with this!!! To begin with, the case is durable plastic, although the lid looks different than the picture shows. The open lid is really covered in deep depressions which are wonderful for mixing paint. The white watercolor tube is genius! Partly for this reason...these Pelikan paints are so fully pigmented! They are super bold, bright and vivid! I actually had to water down a drop of paint, instead of trying hard to get color onto my brush! The white paint results in creamy light colors. I tried a project and found the texture of the paints to be extremely easy to mix and work with! They blend beautifully on the paper. They dry without any chalky residue, but a velvety smooth finish. I am super happy with these paints and can't believe these watercolors are so cheap, they seem so high quality!

This was the first set of gouache paints I ever owned when I was in elementary school, and even as someone studying art at a university, I still love these paints. They're pigmented and build-able, they last, and are easy to travel with or clean, unlike many paint tube sets. They are worth well over what they cost and I highly recommend them. I always buy these for kids who are exploring the arts and want to give painting a try. The only thing I'd say is that these aren't really "watercolors." They can be used as watercolors, however they're more buildable due to the chalkiness within them.

These are amazing watercolors for the price! Granted, I'm not really familiar with the various watercolors available, but I remember watercolors from my childhood, and they were pretty atrocious. That's sort of what I was expecting, but these are really nice. The container is also sturdy and has recessions for you to mix colors in. There's also a tube of white watercolor to mix with darker colors.I bought these to use for a small project, and I was definitely surprised and pleased with their quality and price.

As a watercolor painter I found these paints to be very tricky upon first try. Definitely a learning curve to overcome with these paints. From other reviews it’s obvious that beautiful paintings are achievable with these paints. Just like any other medium you must practice before any magic can happen.

Great quality. Colors are gorgeous and blend together to make some amazing color combos. My kids used this and they sure made a mess of it but it just shows how much they loved it! Not chalky, creamy and just very high quality.

After using the cheap watercolor set I'd gotten at Michael's, I definitely appreciate the quality of this set! Definitely not chalky, and I love the color options - although a true red would be a useful addition to the set for color mixing purposes. The container itself is nicely designed as well. I'm new to watercolor painting, and look forward to having fun creating projects using this affordable set.

Great for beginning to intermediate watercolor artists. I used them for over a year before moving on - but I come back to these frequently when I'm practicing and puttering. Very good pigmentation and selection of colors.It's nice that the Chinese Whtie is included, and that there are plenty of mixing wells for the pains.

Growing up in Germany, I (like every school child in Germany) had several of these. When I my 3-year old daughter's first watercolour box (don't recall the brand) and the chalky residue it would leave on every sheet of paper, it was clear that I would need to get one of these for her. They are almost twice the price as in Germany, but hey, now she has a proper watercolour box! She is particularly excited about the white ("Deckweiß") in particular, cause her previous set didn't have white at all.Now she knows that white on white paper doesn't give much of a picture ;-)
