A1+ Product
8For 30 years I used and maintained an Arneson Pool Sweep until March of this year. Parts being impossible to find and no one alive that knew how to repair them, I finally decided to cough up the big bucks and make a change. After speaking to a technical friend, with a pool, asking what he used, he said for the last 3 years he had used a 3900 Sport with no problems. Researching Amazons reviews, I was alarmed by many of the responses. So I called Polaris' Bonnie Shaw directly at 760.230.2424 and asked her about these reviews. She informed me that when this product came out there were some technical problems that were addressed and fixed and that new units were performing as advertised. She assured me that I should have no problems as long as the current model was used. On her recommendation, and that I my friend, I purchased and installed the new unit and within 3 hours my pool was spotless and the unit worked as represented. I have a large 35,000 gallon pool in the configuration of an offset figure eight, the shallow end being shallow enough for most 5 year olds to be above water, and the diving end being 9.5 feet deep. I followed the instructions on cutting lines and measuring rotations. NO Problems and easy to do. The only adjustment I need to make is in the tail which does not sweep. I have not been able to do the complete adjustment yet, due to the temperature and rain in our area over the past few weekends. No matter, It still cleans everything but some narrow steps. To date, I am thrilled and would buy this again and will recommend it to anyone. I am over 70 and have arthritis in my back and knees and if I can do this, anyone can do this. At this point I believe that most of the bad reviews are from people who didn't read and/or use the instructions properly, or are from misleading competing products. As time goes on, I will comment on my own review, if any problems occur or if the status quo is maintained. **UPDATE ** 3 years later,, Everything running at normal...P00l spotless and the only thing I have done is replace the bag when a stick was picked up and tore the bag. I also replaced the sponge end. I can't recommend a product enough. Old Tex

Crappy and cheap hose connections mean you'll spend more time trying to fix it than it spends cleaning your pool.
Straight up, this thing cleans like a champ as long as it stays connected. The issue is there are multiple connection points in which a soft tube end with a few thin grooves is supposed to connect to a hard end with a screw cap on it. Great in theory, but when you add water pressure, the soft end isn't strong enough to hold on to the screw cap and you end up walking out daily to the vac lying on the bottom of the pool and the now unconnected hose thrashing around shooting water out of your pool. It's not worth the hassle. Especially at this price point. Fix the hose connections and this is a 5 -star review. As for now, I'm boxing this thing up and sending it back.

Cleans well..
This is an automatic pool cleaner. It runs along the bottom and sides of the pool sucking up leaves and debris onto a netted bag, that needs to be manually emptied periodically. Does a fairly good job, though the hose does tend to get tangled during operation restricting its coverage. Often, it corrects itself. Other times, it needs to be untangled manually for it to continue its function. All in all, does a good job. This model is efficient, reliable, and priced right. Highly recommend! 🌺

No more pool wall scrubbing!
This is fantastic unit. Like having your own pool guy who quietly maintains your pool while you do better things. Have had it almost a year now and cant remember the last time we had to scrub the side walls or bottom of the pool. It climbs the sides and steps easily. Read and follow set up instructions carefully measuring pool size and area to clean and it will work perfectly.

Polaris is not what it used to be
I had this for less than a month. Worked great then wheels locked up. I had old one for 12 years. Never a problem. I gave it 3 stars because previous one worked very well. Also arranged for Pick up on Saturday still waiting for pick up.

Originally defective- ONE STAR- now fantastic - FIVE STARS.
I purchased a Polaris 3900 August 2017 for my new house. There was a problem for close to a year- the cleaner was sluggish, constantly getting stuck, back up valve did nothing, tail didn't sweep. All these issues were day 1, right out of the box. I hated this thing and was ready to rate it a ONE STAR and ship it back to Polaris. After hours spent troubleshooting, purchasing a new pump (another $400!), returning to pool store for warranty repair etc etc etc, a lot of online research, i finally tried a replacement quick disconnect, and BRAVO it works perfectly now. It was caused by a defective pressure relief valve in the quick disconnect, which in hindsight should have been obvious because the original pressure valve was discharging too much water at the disconnect when operating. The new one discharges no water and enables the pressure to go to the wheels, tail sweep and backup valve. The thing works like a charm now!! If you are having the same problems with sluggish performance, spend less than $15 and get a new quick disconnect with pressure relief valve. I hope this helps others. Try it. Now the Polaris Vac-Sweep 3900 is great. By the way Polaris customer service is excellent.
