Well made hatch. I was nervous about cutting my new kayak but once it was complete, I was very pleased with the result. It looks like it was factory installed. I love being able to put my keys/phone/snacks in here so they are easily retrieved. I would not think that the bag would be waterproof so if you put your phone or other moisture sensitive object in it, use some form of water protection for it. It may be water resistant to splashes but not for sitting in water in the event your kayak leaks or you flip it. 😉

Very fast to install.

Just installed one in my wifes kayak and added two to mine and all three have worked just as advertised. Easy install and the 6" dry storage is perfect size. Only negative is the red sack that goes into the dry storage area is not water proof, but as far as water tight/water proof seal on the dry storage - yes 100% waterproof seal.

A couple things, the red internal bag is small, and not waterproof. So get a large zip locks or small dry bag . An internal red bag will hold your wallet, keys, and light jacket.Comes with rubber gasket . I bought kayak with hatch without door, I installed this in place , marked opening with sharpie, then cut with jigsaw. The screws that come with package are self tapping type. My original had screw with lock nuts, so I reused those locknuts instead.

I’ll post a photo soon.I used this as a through haul mounted vertically on a camper that I am building to allow access to plumbing and to have the ability to pass a shower sprayer through it so I can shower inside the camper or outside.This is perfect. I removed the red pocket bag and will replace it with a piece of screen to keep bugs out. This makes a very nice added window and surprisingly provides a great amount of ventilation.
