Good value
Good value for fireproof material. Can be used in a variety of situations where extreme heat/fireproofing is needed. One inch thick, but I was able to compress it to fit a 3/4 inch void, and am comfortable that this amount of compression has not severely affected insulation properties.

Holds in the heat!
Just take a portable electric stovetop and hotwire its coil to the plug, wrap this stuff around a pot and tie it down with bare copper wire to get yourself an effective setup for melting down bismuth metal for crystal growth! The cheap and quick option. Definitely works the way I hoped.

We have a woodstove with baffles and the piece that came with stove was worn and not as good quality as this ! Most affordable we could find !!
