Good edition, nice sound
It is a good pressing, with a very acceptable sound quality.

One of the Greats
This was a standard pressing of a classic album and the quality is fine, but not one of those fancy heavy pressings. Art Blakey is my GOAT drummer. Moanin is a classic. Nough said.

High quality analog vinyl for a killer price.
A blue note all analog 180 gram vinyl for under 25$!? It wouldn’t matter the title, the quality of the Amazon deal is well worth it. But include one of the most iconic bebop jazz albums ever and you have what the kids call, ‘a must own’.The packaging is simple. No gatefold, no tip on jacket, just the bare necessities. That’s the only critique I have of this perfectly flat, immensely quiet, analog production. I run my albums through the workhorse tank that is known as the sansui 838, a mid level audio technica elliptical stylus, through a $100 GE vacuum tube per amp and some 40w edifier powered speakers. FAR from an audiophile set up but definitely enough to pull some extraordinary sounds from this record. This record is a must own and for the price it’s a good idea to pick up a spare.

You won't find a better sounding record for this price
As someone who currently has 993 records and counting, I've experienced records that sound good and records that sound great. The qaulity of the music on this record speaks for itself, excellence. That was no surprise. The qaulity of the pressing is what raised my eyebrows. Simpley put, this sounds amazing. One of the highest quality records I own. Blue Note certainly lives up to it's well deserved reputation!

A no brainer
Buy it! I have owned nearly every style pressing of this album. From original RVG etched wax original pressings to 1970s reissues, bootleg EU and Russian labels Waxtime, etc. I know this album in and out. For the price this pressing is amazing. It is on par with an original Van Gelder. For 1/15th the cost of a VG original, this is incredible. Great sound and the pressing is nice and clean and heavy. The areas of the compositions where it can get a bit distorted, Kevin Gray, the engineer addresses this nicely. Don’t waste any time buying this. They won’t press this forever and the Lee Morgan Sidewinder release is already commanding higher prices in the secondary market, and this is a more popular title.

Pre-scuffed for that “vintage” vibe.
Terrific sound quality on this classic, Kevin Gray did a great job. No complaints there. However, I had to return my initial copy because it had some scuffs and a big scratch on the first track. I returned it and received a better copy, but it still wasn’t perfect.Hopefully Optimal (the pressing plant) will get their act together next time.

Finally!
I've been looking for a pressing of Moanin' for quite some time. This certainly isn't a Tone Poet pressing but it's quite good nonetheless. Mine had a tiny warp, but I can live with it given the price. As is usually the case, dynamics are amazing, pressing is extremely quiet after a good clean, and, for the most part, the pressing is flat enough that I don't notice it. Tone Poet have made this series even better by lining the paper sleeve with some kind of plastic liner - less static. Overall, I love this pressing and I would recommend it to anybody looking to add this album to their collection.
