BIG FAN of these two authors
Drs. Barker and Iantaffi exceed the qualifications of today's top University scholars, yet found refuge as independent researchers and writers outside of 'The Academy.' This brings a unique honesty and raw sophistication to their work as they're liberated from the constraints of traditional and outdated systems of academic publishing. They write to the readership in a manner that brings an experiential process for the reader to engage in their writings at a more humanistic level--and all the while--don't sacrifice an ounce of academic integrity. As the topics of their books land smack dab in the middle of politically charged narratives, it doesn't take much insight to see that their work remains grounded in rigorous research and pursuits of truth. In their most recent installment as part of their clever and needed work around 'anti-self care', they once again bring some truth that I've been waiting for as they courageously identify flaws in the mainstream narrative around self-care and get us back grounded in what it was always meant to be about. I won't throw in any spoilers, but if you've ever questioned whether your struggles can really be resolved by some additional yoga classes, and then took additional yoga classes to no avail, I'd definitely give this a read!
