SITKA Gear Pantanal GTX Cap

The GTX cap form SITKA is a nice well made cap, stitching is perfect with no issues. Needed a new Gore-Tex hat since my girlfriend seems to have confiscated my older Gore-Tex hat for hiking in wet weather. I really like the fit and feel of this hat compared to the hat I was using from Outdoor Research, admittedly the Outdoor Research hat was not Gore-Tex but is designed and sold as a light weight rain cap. The SITKA hat did keep my head dryer (less sweaty) than the OR hat due to better breathable fabric. Pricing on the SITKA hat is reasonable based on the quality build and competition offerings. This hat was concierbly less money than the NIKE hat the girlfriend seems to have claimed as her own. The only thing I don’t like on this hat and the reason for the 4 star rating is the branding, really SITKA feels the need to have a unsightly logo on one side and the SITKA name across the front all in contrasting orange.... this is a hat not a NASCAR.

Sure, it's not going to match everything you wear, but when was being comfortable in the elements a fashion show? Goretex is no doubt, the world's best waterproof fabric. This is a low profile hat, not the big fat, chrome dome hats you see the hipsters sporting–and for that I'm thankful. It's exactly the fit you need in the field, nothing more. The layout of the fabric panels give the hat a natural snug (but not tight) fit. In the warmer months, you do sweat a little but it wicks right away. It's super light, hardly know you're wearing it.
