Tool Great!!! Instructions Suck!!!
OK... Good value and quality. Great starter kit for the weekend mechanic, Dad's with kids who have old cars and guys with those mechanically-challenged friends. The impact works well and will suffice for the majority of unprofessional mechanics, like me. Used it to remove lug nuts on trailer that hasn't been touched for years... easy peasy. Using it with a pancake type compressor. Had it set at 100psi. Perhaps something tougher to ratchet would require me turning up the supply pressure. Will see. The ratchet wrench is not impact. No biggie. Some complain here that it doesn't have the torque power. But that isn't what it's intended for. If you put a wrench on a nut and have to grunt, grit your teeth and white-knuckle it in order to loosen it... don't expect this wrench to start that job. But it is for many, many of those bolts/nuts that we work on that aren't that bad. And there-in is the time saving nicety of this wrench. Also, many of those nuts/bolts are in spaces that you can fit a ratchet wrench on but have no room to spin the handle. So, WHY FOUR STARS??? Well...it was a bit frustrating to have terrible instructions! Most of the customers here. like myself, want a quality tool at a fair price. We got it. But it would be nice to know something about it. One of the questions here was, "How to get the protective cover off the inlet of the Impact wrench"?? The guy is right. There wasn't a word about it. I fiddled with mine until I finally just gave it a pry with the screwdriver. Would have been nice to know of I was breaking anything important. ALSO, no instructions about oil?? Really? How much oil should one put in a new air impact wrench?? No word. The drawings depicting a grease-gun pointing to an area of the wrench was worthless. If you never owned one of these, the instructions were useless. My thanks to fellow Amazonians and YouTube for helping with the details.ALSO, you will need to order extra 1/4" quick-couplers. Yeh, two of the pictures show the tools laid out on a nice garage towel ready to give you warm fuzzies dealing with all those nasty rusted bolts. Well, the pic has the adapters and these tools don't. So get some with your order. And while you're at it, buy the tool oil...you'll find out here later how much to put in.

Weak impact/ improvment
For some reason this new impact doesn't hit as hard as my old one. The ratchet is fine but the impact is weak. Very disapointed. Since i first wrote this review, i have improved the quality of the pressure switch on my compressor. Now instead of a weak working pressure (under 1000p.s.i.) i now have a higher pressure more like a modern car shop. Around the 120p.s.i. range. Now i am seeing better results with my impact. Much better.

Quality is good. Origin is not.
For the price you probably can't find a better set than IR. These tools run great on my Husky compressor with a 33 gallon tank at 5.1 SCFM@90 psi. The impact wrench has plenty or torque for anything that I have planned and the ratchet is plenty fast. Now, with that being said, I was a little disappointed when I saw both tools are stamped "Made in China". I didn't see that shown anywhere in the product description. I was under the impression that Ingersoll Rand was U.S. made. Now that I've had a chance to use it repeatedly over the last several months I thought I would add a quick update. It's been a solid performer and has worked without any problems. I would like to note that even on the highest setting, the impact wrench only torqued down lug nuts to 100lbs. I used my CDI torque wrench to check. As far as loosening bolts, the impact wrench is plenty strong. The 3/8" ratchet does the job too. It was strong enough to twist and snap a frozen boat right off a suspension link. The "made in China" thing still bugs me but I'm very happy with the purchase.

... reviews of some other posters and I have an excellent experience with this item
I have read the reviews of some other posters and I have an excellent experience with this item. I work on backhoes and heavy equipment. I use this impact tool to remove the 2 7/16's inch tension nuts on a 7-ton Case 580 Backhoe which is no easy task. I note that the impact rate is a little slower but it did the job that no human could do by hand! Now for some advise to those that thought little of less of this item. For pneumatic tools such as these you need to deliver at least 150 psi and have a sufficient tank size as not to out-run the compressor. I really like the case as I have a lot of tools and the case was a nice surprise as I tend to leave things laying around, so the case brought some order to chaos in my shop.Again I work on heavy equipment and large vehicles 1-ton and up. This item has never let me down! I want to advise others that you need to routinely put a few drops of highly refined & dry 10w oil in the air inlet to keep the tools in good running condition. I am an old time wrench bending grease slapper that is very happy with these tools!
