Versatile! Comfortable! Well Made!
I have been searching for a product like this for over ten years. I travel every week for work and my pelican cases are crucial to my work. The ability to convert to a backpack is incredibly useful for trips where I know I will not have the luxury of flat surfaces and elevators.I also see a great application for turning a pelican case into a very rugged backpack for camping. After I received the RucPac I went over it closely examine stitching and hardware and found it to be well made.Attaching it to a model 1510 pelican was quite easy. The large included velcro sheets were easy to cut into pieces to cover all of the flat faces of the case where it would mate with the backpack.Take advantage of the instructional videos offered by the company, it will make attaching the system easier. The only note/feedback I'd offer would be for the adjustment buckles to be made of metal rather than plastic and I expect to look for aftermarket replacements as my personal use case finds me in extremely hostile terrain and temperatures that don't play well with plastic.I'd also like to give a shout out to the founder of the company who has been very nice to trade emails with when I used the RucPacx website contact information to ask some questions.

Comfortable and convenient carrying system
I found the rucpac while searching for pelican and Nanuk cases from YouTube, and felt that it was different from other cross design carrying systems and was more suitable for my needs. The strap of rucpac pro is very thick, and you will not feel a lot of pressure on your shoulders. The waist strap bears most of the weight. At the same time, rucpac pro does not affect the opening of the box, which is very important. In urgent tasks, You won't waste time by "undoing the straps", and you won't be in a hurry. The self adhesive Velcro strips would have worried me a bit, however, it's almost the same area as the back of the pelican 1510, nanuk 935, and the adhesive is very strong, plus the two top webbing straps on the top of the hardcase, cleared my doubts.rucpac pro is a very good carrying system, I personally like it very much.

The only product that tackle all my needs for outdoor painting
Been going outdoor to do plein air painting, carrying a wooden french easel around for 2 years. I am always searching for ways to make my trip easier to carry and faster to deploy the tools. The easel is a big wooden box with tripod legs, great to put all the tools inside but it only comes with a side strap which I got backpain every time went for a longer trip. The RucPac Pro listed for use on hardcase like Pelican, but I gave it a go on my wooden box. And it works like a charm. I could open the easel with the shoulder strap still attached, and the attachments are sturdy enough for the weight. It only adds minimal weight to my package, but supports my back to go trek for hours more. And I still got to detach the straps if i feels like it, which is great. Overall it is a well-thought out product and I think you hardly find other trek carrier that do what it does

Game changer for pelican case fans
I’m usually pretty hesitant to write reviews for products after owning them for only a relatively short period of time, but this RucPak Pro has been a game changer for me. I’ve been using it for a couple months now, and having ability to turn my Pelican 1535 air, which usually can only be rolled around, into a fully functional backpack makes everything about carrying around a pelican case that much easier. I work on film sets, and I often have to lug around a lot of pelican cases at once…or make several trips. But having one of them on your back allows for a more streamlined workflow when on the move. Plus, the size of the cushioning on this pro version, which covers the entire length of a 1535 air case, from top to bottom, makes it surprisingly comfortable. I was a little nervous about the rock-hard edges of the pelican case somehow getting in the way and making it uncomfortable, but I have never had a single issue. From my understanding, the first generation RucPac straps were uncomfortable because the case just rubbed against your back with no protection….but if that was the case, it has been fixed with this new pro version. The shoulder straps are also pretty thick, and wide, so it makes it more comfortable than you would think. I think most people buy pelican cases for a reason… Because you want to protect your gear, even from the elements. In the past, having that protection has come at a cost of functionality and portability. However, the RucPac pro really helps to bridge that gap, and makes your pelican a great traveling case, even in remote locations. The only negative I would say about this case is that it relies on thick velcro strips to prevent the case from swinging. Sometimes, when bending over or twisting, you can hear some of the Velcro start to pull away, almost like the case may swing off. I realize that the options for securing the case to the back pad are limited (I think early models allowed for you to put a strap around the wheels at the bottom of the case…but that would be a nightmare for when you want to quickly disconnect). Keep in mind, the case is always securely locked into the RucPac at the top of the case, as a set of straps loops around the top handle….but the rest of the case remains in position by the Velcro, and that makes it feel a little uneasy at times. I’ve never once actually had the case swing off the padding, but it’s has felt like it came close once or twice.Lastly, I’d also say the the price for what you are getting is perhaps a little steep, and should come down a bit. Instead of $150, this would be better suited for a price tag of $85-$100, max. I have a second Pelican 1535 air case that I would love to equip with a RucPac, but I can’t justify spending another $150 for an already expensive pelican case.Overall, it’s a great purchase. I highly recommend it!

Great idea, Great quality, great product
At first I was skeptical that this would hold my case of fragile electronics. I cut the Velcro to size and tried a couple different weights to make sure…worked like a champ! I’m guessing my equipment is about 20-30 lbs with case.Carried this across a couple airports and it made my life way easier than rolling three different cases! Also packs down and was able to use as carry on.Quality stitching from what I can tell, good materials, sturdy, pretty comfortable. My only change to it would be add clips to the straps on top for easy quick release…..I don’t trust just the Velcro.
