Careful When Buying This Ebook No CDs or MP3
I'm on my 3rd version of this book. I bought a version of it in 90s that came with a tape. Then in 2004 it came with a CD I've since ripped the CD and its made its home on my hard drive so I've decided to buy the ebook version because I like to sit at my computer and play. So I already have all the tracks but if your like me you want to hear how the exercise sounds when your buying a guitar book and the Ebook version doesn't come with MP3s or a CD.This is a great book that will help limber up your fingers. I personally like to play blues-rock but I've gotten a lot out of this book as in evidence of me buying three versions. But, the scans of the tabs in the Kindle version are a little blurry, and the titles of the songs have their own separate page then the tab. Also it would be nice if Dave explained a little more about what your doing.

Good but not excellent.
Pros: Easy to follow, each hand fingering is marked very clearly(something a lot of books miss).Cons: Maybe 5-6 songs out of the 20 are interesting, only a short section of each song is in the book.Flight of the Bumble Bee is very short, Jesu has part of the first verse. I would have liked to see the complete songs in the book. I did like the explicit fingerings shown in the book which cuts down practice time. This book is decent but not the end all speed book. I would still buy Dave's other books, as this is a decent book.BTW 'Speed mechanics for lead guitar' by Stetina has a complete version of Flight of the Bumble Bee.

Dig it
I love this book. I owned it before but a friend wanted to learn all the sweet little classical pieces I would play, so I lent it to him, never to be seen again. So I just repurchased it again to brush back up on my Bach.

CD not concert pitch on my copy
I would have liked to have given this book a 5 star rating because I have owned a copy since it first came out in '89 and I highly recommend it to any intermediate guitarist wishing to learn more ie pedal tone, arpeggio etc. The reason I only award 3 stars is because the cd which came with it has the guitar tuned a half step/pitch higher than concert, strange because the guitar on my old cassette copy was tuned about 1/4 step lower than concert, which was not a big problem. When I came to tune my guitar along with new cd ( begins with tune up) I immediately broke a first string.... so I dont plan on doing that again. Very disappointed as I was hoping to ram it onto my computer and use it as my daily ( well, almost) practice, as I have done for many years. I notice no other review has noted this problem ? I bought a new copy and the cd was sealed in plastic sleeve, so it is not a dodgy copy.

Great ideas for playing overdriven classical music
Nice set of practise pieces using an overdriven tone against some classical Bach and Paganini etc. Starts easy and get challenging with Toccata and Fugue. Makes you think about all that classical music down at the library for clarinets, flutes and violins that could be used for practise like this. This book is all laid out in notation and TAB so it's an access point for those without music reading skills. If you're into this you also need Speed Lead by Troy Stetina - and might like to take a look at his books on Lead Guitar and Rhythm Metal. Speed Metal and Speed Lead are not for beginners though - you'd have to play for about a year before starting these.
