藿香正气水 REGULAR CARE(HUO XIANG ZHENG QI SHUI) Functions and indications: resolve the exterior and transform dampness, rectify qi and harmonize the center. Applicable to external contraction with wind-cold, internal injury and dampness stagnation, headache and cloudy heavy head, pain and distention in stomach duct and abdomen, vomiting and diarrhea. one must refrain from eating or drinking anything sweet, including fruits
Based on a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) recipe that is at least 500 years old, Huo Xiang Zheng Qi (pronounced hwo shee-ung jung chee) is very effective in stopping nausea, vomiting and fever caused by an upset stomach and/or cold (with a fever) and has been my go-to wonder drug for these problems. However, please note that when taking Huo Xiang Zheng Qi, one must refrain from eating or drinking anything sweet, including fruits, because sugar will reduce the effectiveness of some of the ingredients in the drug. Also, though Huo Xiang Zheng Qi can help with colds, it is not very effective when experiencing colds with dry coughs that are not feverish.
