I want to write apps for this device, do you have an SDK or not, and where is it available?

How long does it take ro scan a page?

It only takes seconds to scan a page. You just slowly move the scanner down the page. Mine tells me if I was successful. It does take a few times using the scanner to get good at it. I love mine because I use it when I'm in a library doing genealogy work. The most important thing is to make sure your page is laying flat. Practice a few times and I think you'll love it.

Does it scan to searchable PDFs?

I have difficulty with books that do not have a wide margin, how much space is required from the end of the device to the scan field?

I cm (or about 3/8 inch) was not enough. I would not recommend it for scanning books.
