great adjustable stock
This stock works great for me. just to clarify from the previous reviews this will fit commercial extension tubes just as the item's description says. it is a little tight on the commercial tube as they are typically larger than mil-spec buffer tubes, 1.170" comm diam vs 1.147" mil-spec diam, so don't let that deter you from this stock. mil-spec tubes are considered stronger because they have a larger thread diameter of 1.1875 and taper to a smaller tube diam where the commercial stocks are one diameter along the full length... sorry, enough with the gunsmithing lesson. I get no rattle at all on my commercial tube and did not have any trouble installing the stock either. the stock is designed to accommodate both sizes with two adjustable arms that ride alongside the tube where the adjustment notches are. installation is just like a standard CAR Stock, or most adjustable stocks for that matter, you just pull the adjustment lever down and slide off/on. this stock does slide easier to install and adjust on a mil-spec tube and there is little play whereas it is solid on the commercial tube and adjusts with more noticeable drag. also on the GL-Shock the lever is reversed so to adjust the length of pull you depress the front of the lever. this was weird for me at first being used to all the stocks I had tried before using the traditional method. however having used this for a few months now I prefer the method on this stock, it just feels more natural now to squeeze the front of the stock rather than the center to adjust it. If you are coming from a standard stock as well you will notice it is a larger butt stock. i measured a standard CAR stock at 6.25" length and the GL-Shock at 7.125" and CAR stock at 4.25" height and the GL-Schock at 5.00" so your shoulder and cheek weld will change slightly at each LOP position.the cheek piece does work well with my scope but not my red dot sight. cheek weld with my red dot is perfect without the cheek piece. personally i would recommend against the cheek piece unless you are using scope. as one of the previous reviews mentioned if you have the stock fully closed or any of the shorter lengths it will interfere with the charging handle. the cheek piece will need to be raised or the stock extended to the 2nd or 4th position depending on whether you have a 4 or 6 position tube so it will work without the charging handle contacting the cheek piece.the rubber butt pad is awesome and actually helps to make a more stable position on your shoulder versus a standard plastic stock and the tire tread pattern just looks cool. I didn't have any trouble with removing the butt pad to access the storage compartment but it could just be because I'm a mechanic and use my hands for manual labor everyday. no need to put the barrel on the ground or use a bullet tip. you will need to point the gun down. grip the end of the stock with your fingers across butt pad and use your thumb to depress the button while your fingers slide the butt pad towards you and off. I agree with another reviewer that a fold down design would be better as the butt pad can be lost this way. behind the butt pad there is a plug with an o-ring that is supposed to be water tight. just for fun, with the stock removed from my rifle of course, I placed 2 AA batteries and ran the stock under running water for about to fill the sink and then submerged the stock under water for a minute. after removing the butt pad, the battery compartment was dry. the 2 AA batteries do rattle around however and did bother me a little bit. to fix that i placed a typical foam ear plug in each compartment to prevent any movement or noise inside the stock. not sure how CR123 batteries fit as they are shorter and wider than AA batteries. I'm sure if they do move around the ear plug trick will work just fine for them as well.the GL-Shock looks slick and it feels very solid with no play on a commercial tube and very little movement on a mil-spec tube. the rubber butt pad shoulders really well but accessing the battery compartment could be improved but works well and is water tight. definitely consider the stock without the cheek piece if you are not using a scope. the recoil isn't really enough on a .223/5.56 to activate the recoil spring but I'm looking forward to trying this with a 300 BLK upper and running some slugs through a shotgun with an AR sized extension tube(should work really well with the cheek piece as an alternative to a high tube stock for anyone using a rail system on a Mossberg 500/590, Winchester 1200/1300 or Remington 870). overall I think this is a great stock and I'm very happy with it. I would purchase this stock again.

Good stuff
Was expecting the color on the picture I saw and figured I’d have to paint it black. It arrived in black AND there was already a spot for the rear strap piece. I didn’t need to install the part from the other butt stock I had. Very happy with this product. You will need to adjust the height of your sights as in at least get a 1/2 in rail piece to align the sights properly. The cheek rest is a must.

Great stock
Great stock. I've read most of the reviews good and bad before I bought this stock. The main complaints seem to have been loose or too tight of feel on the tube and the rubber pad not coming off easily.Another complaint was the cheek piece gets in the way of charging the weapon. If the cheek piece is in the up position, you are able to charge the weapon, even with it fully collapsed. Otherwise you can also charge it if the stock is in the #4 position. While the stock has some wiggle to it, that's to be expected as this stock is made for both mil-spec and commercial tubes. Most stocks have a little wiggle anyway (unless it has a locking clamp) so I don't mind it. I did not have any problems taking the rubber butt-pad off. In fact, I also bought the ARP butt-pad and changed it out easily.I mounted this on a .50 Beowulf. I haven't shot it with this stock on yet so I don't know how much of the recoil the stock will mitigate. Will update on this.

Good solid stock
I gave it three stars, merely because I could discern no actual recoil mitigation from the recoil buffer. It seems that it is sprung a little too heavily for 5.56/.223. I have a pencil barrel rifle that weighs 97.3ozs empty, with a six oz Bushnell TRS-25 w/ riser installed, and just the naked receiver extension. Add the 14.7 oz GL-Shock-CP and thats still a pretty light weight rig. I stacked the deck in the stock's favor and ran 75 and 77 grain loads through it, then put the 5.8oz MFT Battlelink Minimalist stock on and neither I nor any of the other four shooters could tell a difference. That said, it's a bad little piece of kit. I won't hesitate to put it on the next build that won't be so weight conscious, perhaps a 6x45, .300 Whisper, or one of the .25/.223s. Something with a little more ass might make it shine. It was certainly a no rattle fit on both the commercial, and mil-spec extensions. The cheek riser did not interfere with the charging handle, even with the six position stock collapsed to the third slot to accommodate one of the smaller statured female shooters that was present when we rang it out. It shipped from overseas and arrived well before the projected date. Good all the way around.

decent but not great
Appearance: its solid, strong and tuff looking, feels good too. Good quality.Function: the hidden compartment is nice, the clip is as hard as removing the grip cap compartment, do-able.The battery cap is hard to remove, I just my bullet to get it open because the fitting is real tight, but do-able.The internal stock absorber is hidden so I dunno, not much of a different as far as shooting.Con: the fitting on to the buffer tube is okay. Mil-spec stock and mil-spec tube, it does matter if its a milspec tube, the tube needs to be inserted through the back side of the stock, after removing the rubber pad. Weriod I know, kudos if you can get it in the proper way. Once its on there is no horizontal movement what so ever due to the side clips but there is a slight verticle movement like a dime gap, annoying but whatever. Also!!!! The stock needs to be half extended to charge the bolt carrier, the cheek riser gets in the way!Mine took a month to get here, make sure you read the name of the location, I got my stock in isreal, yeah my mistake, whatevers right. If your getting a scope then get the cheek riser if not than you don't need it
