Do I need to use a Royal Purple filter to get the best performance of this oil or will any filter do?

I use fram filters. In the vehicles that I need to be very reliable I use the expensive Walmart Fram Filters. In my around town vehicles I use the cheap fram filters. I have had no problem with any of them. You will enjoy the Royal Purple. Just make sure it shows up on the oil dip stick. My Ford F150 used 9 quarts the 1st time. Not the typical 6 quarts. Now it uses a little over 7 quarts.

What is the shelf life of this oil

This oil is synthetic. It will not break down or become contaminated like traditional oils may. That said, only buy what you think you'll use in the next 60 months. If you buy this 5 gallon model, consider how many other vehicles can benefit from it. I have two cars, both of them use 5-20. So for me, this is a no-brainer purchase.

some have dexos some dont, why? mine arrived with no dexos logo

The dexos specification applies to most, but not all, GM vehicles model year 2011 or later. (I) have a nissan, I do NOT use Dexos. I've no idea if Dexos is superior in MY vehicle but since it is NOT specified, I don't use it.

Royal Purple love

Noticed a difference just in engine noise, acceleration and gas mileage. Can't say enough positive thing about Royal Purple. Love it.

Happy, Happy

I purchased used 2018 Ford Escape 2.5L(Not turbo), Noticed horrible transmission rough shift up to 40mile. Improved shifting by changing transmission oil 3 times , but still rough shifting was there. I decided to replace Mortorcraft oil(was new oil) with Royal purple oil 5W-20 also added Hot shots Secret oil additive, Improved power and smoothness by instantly after replaced, also, Transmission rough shifting problems are 100% fixed. I am first time user of Royal purple oil and very happy changing to Royal purple. Drove few days later on freeway, seems to be getting much better gas milage.
