Perfect gift for a historian
I had no idea what to get my partner who is way into British history. I got this for him and he was shocked I even knew about it. Definitely a great present.

History in their own words
If you're at all interested in the Early Middle Ages it's worth reading some of the history in the words of the Anglo-Saxons. It was written down by monks in the 900's or early 1,000's with stories that go back to the 5th and 6th century, so we know the bias of the people who wrote it down.

Well, it’s good for what it is.
The history is interesting. But it’s written more like a list of things that happened. There is no story line, no characters. But I guess I’m the time span it was written, the facts were good enough. So, it’s not one to sit down in the lazy-boy and read till your done. It’s a look-into every now and then. Interesting, but in small bits

A fantastic book and top teir resource!
I bought this book as a resource for a Research paper at the University level. This book Chronicles the period of the Anglo saxons, As told by Alfred the Great. This book is great for anyone who is looking to do research in the Anglo-Saxon field, is an Anglo file, or just a regular old history buff.

An historian's necessity!
This book is an essential reference for anyone who is a historian, and for the person who wants to know history more in-depth. Ancestors come to life for the genealogist. :)

Historically Significant
Although this is historically significant, it is not that interesting to read. It covers a lot of time, people, and events but only at a very high level.

Excellent
Exactly what I was looking for. A simple copy of the Anglo Saxon Chronicles. The book itself is also well made (I purchased the paperback version).
