i was not a fan of Turbo Jam but i am a BIG FAN of Chalene Extreme! It is not super fast paced, so as to exhaust a newbie, but it uses weights to help keep the fat burning going. Has a great variety of workouts, a calendar and a guide. Mine came all busted up and had a missing disc. Sent it back and got one at a screamin' deal on another website. I am really liking it.

All dvds look like new. The plastic holding the dvds came off almost completely after opening because of worn down glue. However, ill glue them back on or find different storage. I played one workout already, and no issues. However, ive never had a company offer me 25 dollars for a good review. But don't worry, they didn't send a gift card anyway.

OH MY ACHING BACK! This workout is NOT the one you're looking for.
I have been working out to at-home videos for more years than I care to count. Most recently, however, I completed the Insanity workout and followed it up with Chalean Extreme. What a difference. When you have quality instructors who know how to make a workout flow, it shows. Chalean's cues are terrible. Whether you're getting lost in the warm-up because her cues take place milliseconds before the next move, or you're trying to remember how many reps in the current set because she keeps changing it, or you don't know what move is coming up because the written prompt disappears well before the exercise starts, or you're clueless to what the move actually entails because Chalean does not demonstrate the move, this series leaves a LOT to be desired. She consistently tells you what weights she is going to use, which usually sound pretty heavy, then she only does two reps before she puts them down to "check" on her people. On top of all of that, her workout ergonomics are AWFUL. I have never had any issues with my back. Ever. Yet, after doing her workouts, I wake up in the morning with lower back pain. Mind you, I am not lifting nearly as heavy as I can. If I were doing that, I could understand some discomfort. Her body positioning puts SO much strain on the lower back. Yes, I bend my knees. Yes, I pull in my abs. It doesn't matter, when the body positioning puts the muscles of your lower back at risk. I agree completely that doing weight-bearing exercises is imperative to a successful workout program. This program, however, is not the one.
