Groovy

This is an album that the true Bebop Jazz Lover will really enjoy. Of course Red Garland was his usually swinging pianist self, and when you have Mr. P.C. (Paul Chambers) on the bass what else is there to say. He does some heavy bowing of the bass through out the CD. Then there is the ever effervescent Art Taylor laying down some some good licks through out the CD.

Red gets no respect, but with Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Dave Brubeck and others being at/ around same time, Red just gets lost...dont lose out on a great talent, his simplicity is clean and allows the band to come off stronger than any one individual on this CD

Great piano trio, my favorite pianist. Love his block chord stylings.

This is a great CD. If you like jazz you will enjoy this completely.

Red Garland's style is refined, purity at its greatest, simplicity at its finest. This album (Groovy) has been chosen as one of the 100 jazz recordings of all time. Most countries out of U.S., this CD will go for twice the price here. The value of this album is that much noticed abroad. Please let's not give ratings irrationally and defame one of the greatest jazz pianist of all time.

Awesome songs...really love the sound.

Red Garland is one of my absolute favorite piano jazz players. My mother loves him as well...she has dementia but knows when she hears him. We listen to his station on Pandora all the time. I suggest a white wine when listening to this particular CD at the end of the day. While this CD would be perfect at any time of the day, for me it has a certain appeal after dark OR on a lazy Sunday afternoon. If Red Garland isn't a part of your jazz library, more specifically this CD, then you shouldn't consider yourself a jazz lover.
