This jar and stand is great way to have fresh bean sprouts. I don't trust buying them in the store anymore due to salmonella so now I grow fresh sprouts in my kitchen.

I love everything about this. I have 3 rescue parakeets and 2 from the pet shop. None of them had ever had fresh 'veggies' or fruit before, which are a MUST for all parrots and birds, and I've tried every trick to get them to eat them. The only thing 2 of them would kind of pick at were radish sprouts from the health food store at $4 for a tiny bag. So I decided to start sprouting my own. I bought this sprouting kit and added in about 1/4 cup of assorted raw, bird safe seeds, followed healthy sprouting guidelines and 3 days later I had a big batch of my own that lasted 5 days! My birds all LOVE them. I'm on my second batch and have now added in grated carrot and apple which they're now actually trying too! I live in a highrise condo with a balcony (no yard) so it feels go to actually be able to GROW something healthy, nutrient packed and organic for my parakeets without having to have a yard. An extra bonus is my pet mice love the fresh sprouts too.
