Did I get the wrong pitcher? Mine only holds a bit over 40 oz. Maybe 40.5.

I got the wrong one too. It says 60 ounces on the packaging but it only holds 40 ounces (I measured). It's either a problem with the ad or the product itself. I wonder if anyone got the 60 ounce version? I still like it but this not what I wanted.

Does the lid fit tight?

Lid Gasket is made to be tight or loose, product page shows both if you look and read it. To change it, just flip the gasket upside down or right-side up depending on if you want loose or tight.

Can it be used on ceramic hobs?

I personally would not. I really like mine. It's pretty delicate. It seems too thin fragile for much more especially heat. This is beautiful for summer drinks or water but not for much more.
