Berlitz Latin American Spanish Phrase Book & CD (Spanish Edition) Paperback – July 1, 2012

Wow! This book is cheap and small but it sure does pack LOTS of content! If you're wanting to learn vocabulary, this is your book! The food section of the book is packed with foods I've never even heard of; it goes from simple foods to exotic ones. I've purchased many other Spanish books for vocabulary and they were big books, but, they were nothing compared to this!

It appears to have been written by a Mexican as some of the usage is Mexican, not Latin American Spanish. I lived in Panama for three years, have been to Mexico close to 10 times, and attended a four-month, six hours per day Spanish course. The bad news: they laugh at Tex-Mex. The good news: It doesn't matter. The Latin Americans may be the most friendly people on earth. They will work with you to learn their language and respect you for trying to learn the language. Buy the book and CD. It's the closest available.

The book didn't meet my expectation. I wasted time and money on it. In it, only modal phrases being used without any examples to practice which is of no help whatsoever. If I could give zero stars I would do it.

This is an extremely helpful and well constructed language guide. It gives you pronunciation tips and key phrases that you will need as you travel around. My wife and I have quickly realized that there are subtle pronunciation differences between Espanol and Latin American Espanol. Highly recommended.

Good price, complete package. Would deal with vendor again.
