Q: what age is this suitable for?

I would say from 5 to 8 years of age for a beginner. It's a really good set and well worth the money.

Q: This might seem a bit odd but can anyone tell me what colour of needle is in the Galt first knitting. Eg gold colour or silver coloured.?

I'm really sorry but I can't remember although I am more inclined to think that they were coloured plastic. What I do remember is that they were really good value and my two granddaughters, aged 7 and 8, are now very enthusiastic knitters. Hope this helps.

I don't know. The one I received was fine.
