elderly parent living alone at home
This is one of the most valuable devices for your elderly parent living alone at home. It is an emergency button with lanyard that calls a sequence of programmed phone numbers. It can call your cell, your spouse, your cell again, and then 911 if no one answers and cancels the alarm. It allows you to talk to your parent through this device. The base station is well designed and has adequate range for a few bedroom house and outside yard nearby. The rechargeable battery is monitored by the base station, and will direct you to swap the battery for the one that has been charging in the base station. I really cannot think of anything else I would want the device to do -- they thought of everything!

PEACE OF MIND
This product has been such a blessing for my soon to be 97 year old mother. It was purchased about 4 mo. ago and she has worn it daily. It has given her a way to feel connected to family in case of an emergency as well as being able to answer the phone from her recliner or anywhere in the house. It is so simple to use, built well, has rechargeable batteries, simple to install, and once purchased, no monthly fees. The programing options are great. Can't say enough good things about this communicator.

Product is as advertised, but you need to be ready to be prosthelytize
"The product is fine and works as advertised. The product is generally used as safety net for people who are ill or old. We bought ours because my wife was paralyzed by an operation that went bad. Included with the product was a Evangelical Pentecostal fundamentalist brochure warning you that you have sinned against god. there is a penalty for sin and only Jesus can save you. For those who have different approach to religion generally or to Christianity specifically the brochure can be offensive, upsetting, and intrusive into one's privacy. I wrote the company about it and they wrote back: " It is a simple gospel tract we included at no extra charge-- (Nor do they identify it is from them). I had this exchange with them: They wrote me: "I would like to say I am very sorry to hear of your wife's condition. That must be a difficult situation to deal with. I am 50 and took care of my 2 parents for over 10 years as they had major health issues. My mother was legally blind, confined to a bed, stroke, colostomy bag, on oxygen and many other issues. It was very very difficult. Both of my parents have passed in recent years and I can say I have learned a lot. I am glad you are happy with the alert system you purchased and I hope it provides some comfort and assurance for both of you. Your words tell me you are a very intelligent person and I would be happy to discuss what exactly upset you regarding the simple brochure what we included. Our intentions were in no way to upset anyone only to help. If you are willing, I would appreciate learning and hearing your perspective on how this was upsetting to you (or could be to anyone else) as I truly do not see any harm being done here. I Look forward to your response." I responded: "My review is not posted as far as I can tell-- when it is I will make it clear my objection was not with the product (as far as I can tell a good product), but with the audacity of a company to send a brochure promoting a specific religion. One which would be described by many as fundamentalist Pentecostal. A religion who believes and so states that "you have sinned against God" and "There is a penalty for sin" and then suggests you adopt Jesus as your savior. Many people who are your customers may agree and many do not. A Jew or Muslim, or Buddhist, or Hindu (to name just few) would find the brochure offensive and derogatory of their religion. People like myself do not believe in original sin-- we try to do what is right and generally accept ethical principals espoused by Christianity and many other main stream religions. We welcome others to believe what they want and we do not try to press our beliefs on them. Perhaps more importantly, many of us believe that religion is a private issue and not one that gets sold along with a product-- we see proselytizing a religion in what see as a private space ( a $200 + purchase should be a private space) as a violation of our privacy and beliefs. We sent money in to buy a communicator not to be proselytized. Finally and perhaps most important is that some of your customers are probably close to death. They can be old and not be as sharp as they once were, they can be weak and lacking in energy-- to hit some of these people with the statement "you have sinned against God" is cruel, inappropriate and way out of line--how the hell do you know? I have no problem with religious schools or businesses that make it clear what they are-- you do not -- in fact send an unsigned brochure--and I find it wrong and offensive. You undoubtedly disagree so be it-- I doubt I will buy again from Assistive Technology."

Awesome device for elderly with existing family support structure close by.
Every once in a while a product comes along that is so amazing because of the value it brings and this is one of them. If peace of mind is what you want, this is the product. My mother in law is very disabled but like most seniors, very stubborn headed thinking she can do things that she can't. All it takes is one fall and we could find her dead in a week. The options are usually an expensive monthly monitoring service but in our case, there are plenty of people close by that we don't need to be sending in the cavalry every time she needs something. So the way it works, is that she is homebound and her husband needs to go out every so often. If she were to fall, she presses the button and it calls a list of four people in order and if we elect, the fifth would be 911. She can communicate thru the device over the phone to each person it calls and she can hang up the phone from the device. It acts like a portable handset but she wears it around her neck. So now, we have a little more freedom and she also feels like she can move around and can buzz someone if she needs helps. One time purchase with no monthly contracts. Ideal for an elderly person who has an existing support structure close by. This provides peace of mind to family and loved ones without the constant monthly cost. Fantastic device.

Would recommend this to anyone who has a loved one who ...
My Father had to use this the first day I purchased it. This is a life saver. He had fallen and was in the floor and could not get up. He had no problem working it and it done exactly what it states in the description. Very simple to operate and had no problem setting it up! Would recommend this to anyone who has a loved one who wants to live alone, but need monitoring.

Warranty Expired because Amazon Purchased Product over a year ago.
I purchased this product in August. A few months later, I started getting calls saying that the pendulum was not in communication to the base. I bout extra batteries thinking that needed to be replaced. After replacing the batteries, I still got the same message. I contacted the manufactory and they said the unit was not under its 1-year warranty anymore. I told them that I had purchased the unit just a few months ago and they said that Amazone purchased the unit over a year ago and it is not under manufactory warranty. The Warranty was in 1 year from the day it was originally purchased by Amazon. Now I have a product that doesn't work, never used it since installed, can't return it because I didn't know it stopped working. Product manufactory warranty starts when Amazon purchases from the manufacturer and not when you purchase from Amazon. The 1-year warranty for the Touch N'Talk I bought expired long before I had a chance to return it. Be aware

Wonderful Product!
This product was just what we were looking for. We have an active 70+ mother but in her home she tends to fall sometimes because of neuropathy in her feet and legs from diabetes. She wears the necklace a lot and the set up was amazingly easy. Great product with no monthly fee!

Works very well. It could be smaller
It seems to work quite well. It is great that you can enter multiple (4) contacts that it keeps trying until someone responds or it calls 911. It is also great that the person requesting help can actually talk to the helper/911 without having to find a phone. The voice quality is just fine for the purpose intended. The most significant drawback is that it is somewhat large. That's why I didn't give it 5 stars. I think that with a little more effort the company could probably cut down on the size. Making it about 1/2 thinner would be awesome. Maybe using a battery smaller than the AAA it uses would help too. Another thing to consider is that the emergency button is somewhat stiff I know the stiffness probably cuts down on false alarms, but I think that my 93 year old mother-in-law might have problems pressing it when under stress. When it comes to redesign time I think that the company should do extensive testing related to the button pressing effort required by the target user. The reason I'm harping about the size is that the larger it is the less likely people are to have it hanging around their neck when it is a matter of life or death. Still that said, I think that it give my father-in-law considerable comfort that if he leaves his wife alone for a while she can call for help. So, a great concept, and a good effort. All things considered I'm happy with it. I think that it is much more useful than the systems that just use a simple dumb button press to call for help.
