It’s a Kensington lock cable. It does what it says on the tin.

Received a faulty one
Possibly received a faulty one: after the latch retracts, it doesn't go back into place (the wheels don't turn in that position either)

Impossible to see
The numbers are vistually impossible to see clearly and when in hospital I simply could not see the digits despite using a torch and reading glasses. One to avoid at all costs. It went in the bin because I could not be bothered to return it. It is not fit for purpose.

This does not fit the modern laptops. Don't waste your money!
