Nice book, but a bit dark in printing that makes the pictures harder to see. But it works ok

Bonny Snowdon has to be one of the best art tutors out there, and this Kindle book perfectly demonstrates her skill as a teacher of coloured pencil art. The instructions are clear and precise and the book is full of great tips and hints and you can be sure that if followed correctly, you can produce a wonderful animal portrait at the end of it. I particularly like the zebra portrait and the Peacock is stunning. In fact, I love this Kindle book so much that I will be purchasing the paperback book as soon as it is back in stock.

I have been following Bonny, a fabulous colour pencil artist. This book is more than a beginner and less than an expert sharing of her methods. The first project's image is too small and vague; I would recommend full sized images or a digital download for the future. The working image for the dogs is just not good enough [in the print version is too dark, detail lost]. Then there is the cost...for the first kitten project I already have a full set of Polychromos pencils [cost £160+], eraser and embossing tool, so to get the recommended paper and extra recommended pencils was going to be an additional £60. It states you can use other colours, but what is the point if you are trying to learn from the project offered, surely that will give a different effect and would be something done as development later on? I love Bonny's work and feel let down by this offering. With all the lovely videos she has on offer, if a new book is commissioned in the future, I would like to see a link to a video with the projects, with a digital download of the reference photo.

I love this book. As an admirer of Bonny Snowdons work I couldn't wait for it to be released. The book it's self lives up to all my expectations and is full to the brim with information, instruction, hints and tips on how to improve my own art work.The only disappointment was in Amazon's lack of care in packing this for delivery. It arrived in an unsealed envelope with bits of the cardboard envelope glued to the front of the book and bent corners. I did applaud the delivery driver for not losing the book in the back of their van. Thankfully the damage does not impact the joy I get from reading the book.

I love this book! It gives clear and helpful information for you, whether just starting out or continuing your colour pencil journey. Written by a fantastic teacher Bonnie Snowdon, a must for your book shelf

I had my eye on this book for a while but delayed buying it due to previous comments complaining about the print quality. All I can say is ignore those comments. I don't know if this is a reprint but this book is beautiful and really high quality. I'm so glad I bought it. Bonny is very generous in sharing her incredible artwork and skills. The information and instructions are simple, clear and easy to follow. There are so many photos for each project they really take you step by step. The subjects for the projects are varied with lots of different textures and colours. This is learning with lots of exploration and fun!

First of all, I’m thrilled to have this amazing book in my library. Bonny Snowden’s work in colored pencil is world-renowned and to finally have a book written by her in my hands is an absolute treat. The book is very well thought out and meticulous in its instruction. The explanation of materials needed for colored pencil art is detailed in description and use - an invaluable resource to have at your fingertips. There is a lovely variety of subjects to draw and, notably, on a variety of surfaces — which is something rarely found in other instruction books on colored pencils.I’m starting with the first project of the kitten reaching for the ornament and, hopefully, will finish it for this year’s holiday cards and I will update my review with a photo when I finish. And then onto that amazing, colorful peacock on drafting film! Feathers! So many new techniques to explore make colored pencil exciting.I take issue with some of the previous reviews that a few of the photos in the book are dark. I believe that some of the reviewers are use to seeing Bonny’s art from a computer screen and, of course, the printed page will never look the same as an image that is back-lit on a computer screen. Colored pencil works are hard to photograph and, as a graphic designer, I’m aware that printing rarely reveals the true nature of any art. Don’t let that stop you from purchasing this gem and enjoying the step by step tutorials.Bonny Snowden has spent years developing her techniques and methods and is well-known for sharing her talents generously through her online Academy and various social media sites. To have this book is like icing on the cake - absolutely delicious!
