IMPRESSIVE 8"
So I have had my 8" JBL GTO804 running off a Rockford Fosgate P2.200 bridged 4ohms @ 200 watts RMS for about 2 months now. This system is not in my car, its for my bedroom. I have the amp running off a Rosewill PSU, paired with Klipsch KG4.2 running off a good ol' Yamaha receiver. I built my own box for this sub, not using the recommended ported enclosure. I designed mine using the 12volt.com subwoofer enclosure/port calculator. I have my enclosure tuned @ 35hz with .66 cubic feet of volume (including port/sub displacement). This sub in this box sounds amazing, great for all types of music, I mainly listen to dubstep, rap, R&B and pop. Very good sound quality from such a small sub. This sub in my enclosure moves quite a bit of air. Its got a 2" x 10" port. I threw a bag at the port while playing Bass Ballin - Bass Mekanik and the bag just stayed floating around in the port. For the price I don't think you can find a better 8" subwoofer. My friends got a Rockford Fosgate P1-2x12 and I could say this 8" is comparable to one of his 12's. Great hard hitting subwoofer, very clean, great SQ and efficiency (you don't need a lot of power to get this little 8 loud). One thing i was surprised at was that this has 11.5mm of Xmax (excursion) this is more than a Rockford Fosgate P1 12 (new model). The RF P1 12 has 9.4mm. That's embarrassing. Overall, I would highly recommend this subwoofer to anyone especially if you are tight on space. Not only is this subwoofer compact, but it can get pretty loud and sustain SQ!! Mine never distorts and i do crank it... trust me. Gets really low too ! AMAZING 8!! I will be saying good bye to this jbl gto804 in January 2013 though... I have pre-ordered the Sundown Audio E8v3, will be selling the JBL to my friend cause hes going to put 2 of these ported in his Millenia. GREAT SUB! SIZE DOESNT MATTER LOL. Just buy it !

I Want to be 12 When I Grow Up!
This little 8" sub truly wants to be a 12" sub when it grows up, though realistically it can't. But that doesn't stop it from doing its level best to deliver performance greater than its measured size.I needed to replace an 8" sub in my sub-tube and thoroughly read every review I could here on Amazon. I noticed that the lowest rating for this little sub was four stars. Though it was a bit more pricey than many of the other 8" subs, it was still what I expected to pay for a quality replacement. As soon as I lifted it out of the box I was struck by its mass and weight. It was nearly 3-4 times heavier than my previous sub, no doubt due to its massive magnet. That was my first indication that I had made the right choice. It fit perfectly into my Pyle Tube (PLTAB8)without any modification. Yeah, I know. Plenty of reviews have trashed the Pyle but I actually enjoyed very decent sound from my Pyle for over 3 years. Anyway, ever since I plopped the JBL into the tube and connected it to my system, I can't seem to take this smile off my face.I'm going through every song on my iPod as if it's the first time I'm hearing it. Sure, this sub gives a really nice thump but it's more than that. It's not just the bass notes but even the lower registers from other instruments are rich and full. Stuff I wasn't hearing before. So if you're looking for a sub that can break your windows and blow your doors off, get yourself a pair of twelves. But if you want your system to deliver great bottom that's rich, full and fat, this little fella is the ticket. It's not a 12 or even a 10, but I'd wager that it's more 8 than you'll get from any other 8.

decent subs for the money
I just installed two of these in my neon in a vented box connected to a 15 year old 1000w legacy 4 channel amp bridged into two. They are running at 8 ohms as my amp will not run at 2 ohms. These subs replaced two older legacy 10", 450w. One of these blows both of the legacies away... And I'm only pushing around 65w rms to each. I also have two 12" Kenwoods in a bandpass. They are still no comparison for these pioneers. Love this product. Definitely worth the money. On a side note, I just ordered a Crunch GPV3500. (Can't wait to get it) :) Will post back to inform you of how they handle this kind of power.Update: After getting these connected to the new amp, I'm not overly impressed. They put out a ton of bass for a ten, but I would highly recommend spend a few more dollars for the Alpine SWS-10D4. Here's why:Pioneer:350wxmax:12mmxmech: 34mmAlpine:500wxmax: 17mmUpdate: These subs have a long break in period. They will continue to get louder for two months. I have them in a vented box 2.4 cf tuned to 37 hz. These things put out an incredible amount of bass for two tens. When they're turned up you can't light a lighter in the car... The pressure in the car prevents it from lighting. Lol. I actually bought these for an ib set up. Pioneer says they can be used in this application... They do work but not very well. You'll get better sound for far less power out of cheaper subs like pyle or pyramid. But vented, they are awesome! Just make sure you have at least 300w RMS (not 300 advertised watts) lol.Bottom line; certainly worth the money... Pioneer speakers usually are. ;)xmech: 64 mm These Alpines are capable of almost 3" excursion compared to these pioneers' 1.5.
